LEWIS A. FRITSCH, 0F FORT THOMAS, KENTUCKY, ASSIGNOR TO OHIO TRUSS COMPANY, OF CINCINNATI, OHIO.
HEAD-BAN D.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented M a1n5, 1918.
Application filed July 10, 1917. Serial No. 179,773.
following is a clear. full. and exact description. attention being called to the drawing which accompanies this application and forms-a part thereof.
Tn playing out-door games like tennis for by the hair which becomes disarranged by the wind and hangs into the eyes, also by perspiration which is apt to run-into the eyes.
To overcome these dilliculties I have provided a band. adapted to be worn around the; head above the eyes and made of elastic material so as to readily fit and to remain in place. Y
It is of suitable width so as to engage the hair to hold the same up and out of .the face.
The material is also absorbent so as to take up perspiration and to prevent the same from running down over the face and into the eyes.
The accompanying drawing shows the hand at A and the manner of its use.
ltserves also to support a vizor B of suit able material like leather for instance which is connected to the lower edge of the band and serves as a shield to protect the eyes against the sun.
The band preferable to a cap inasmuch as it does not cover the top of the head and leaves the same free to the access of air.
The \izor, whichis of leather or other pliant material, has its concaved edge portion overlapping and stitched to the lower edge portion of the'band, as illustrated. It will be noted that when the band is applied to the head, the tension thereof will pull the concaved edge of the vizor snugly adjacent to the head to conform tothe curvature thereof. thereby causing the vizor to assumeits proper sloping position to shade the eyes. The vizor and band both being flexible can be folded up. when not in use.
Having described my invention I claim as newr An article of headwear consisting solely of an elastic band, and a pliant vizor having a coneaved edge attached to the lower edge of the band to holdlhe vizor in shape when drawn against the head by said band.
In testimony whereof I hereunto atfix my signature.
