The Schedule'referred to 1n these Iietters Patent and making part of the same Be it known that I, EFFINGHAM H. N. WARNER, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a. new and useful Improvement in Combined Bosom and Cnis; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description thereof, which will enable others skilled in the art to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming part of this specification, in which- 'Figure 1 represents an under-side view of my improved bosom. I

Figure 3 represents the same arranged as a cuff.

Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.

My invention has for its object to furnish an improved bosom, which shall be so constructed thatits detached halves may be used with equal facility as cuffs, so that it may be used as a bosom or as cuis, as occasion may require; and

It consists in the bosom made in two parts so formed that they`may be worn as cuffs, as hereinafter more fully described.

A are the halves or parts of the bosom, which are made separate, and in about the form shown in the drawings.

The upper end edges of the parts A are hollowed out or concaved, as shown, to correspond with the form of the neck of the wearer.

In the upper forward corner of each of the halves l A is formed a button-hole, a?, to button upon the button of the neck-band ofthe shirt.

The lupper edges of the two parts A are slotted, as shown, said slot-s, a, being about the same distance from the button-hole al as that button-hole is distant from the forward edge of said parts.

When wearingr the parts A as a bosom, the forward edges of said parts are overlapped and connected to each other by buttons or studs in the same manner as the overlapped edges of an ordinary bosom.

The button-holes al are buttoned upon the butto of the neck-band of the shirt, upon which buttonthe ends of the neck-band of the collar B are also buttoned.

The neck-band of the collar is then passed into the slots a of the parts A, so that the greater part of the upper edgesof the said parts A may be'upon the outer side of the neck-band ofthe collar B, being kept in place by the turn-over part of said collar or by the neck-tie.

In the middle part of the upper edge of the'parts i A is formed a button-hole, a, which, when the parts A are used as cuffs, is buttoned upon the Wristband button of the shirt.

'In the outer lower corner of the parts A is formed a button-hole, a4, and in the outer edge of the upper part of the pieces A is formed another button-hole, a5. The button-holes a* and a5 are designed to receive the button or stud by which the parts, when used as cud's, are secured around the wrists of the wearer, the 4position of the button-hole a5 being regulated by the size of the wrist of the wearer.

'ihe parts A maybe made of linen, paper, or other suitable material, and may be made plain or plaited, as may be desired;

It will beobserved that the parts of the pieces A exposed when worn as a bosom are the parts that are concealed or covered by the coat-sleeves when worn as cus, so that they may be worn first in the one capacity until their exposed parts are soiled, and then may be worn in the other capacity until the other parts are soiled.

Having thus described luy invention,

I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A detachable divided shirt-bosom, the two parts A of which are provided with button-holes a a4 a5, by weich they are attached to the shirt-sleeve to serve as cuffs, as herein set forth.
