INVENTOR. GJZAPA W A TTORNE Y5 WITNESSES:
GASPAR RAIPAWY, 0F LOUISVILLE, NEBRASKA.
OUSPIDOR.
Specification or Letters Patent.
Patented Dec. 12, 1911.
Application filed May 5, 1911. Serial No. 625,132
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GASPAR RAPAWY, a subject of the King of Hungary, residing at Louisville, in the county of Cass and State of Nebraska, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Cuspidors, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
This invention relates to cuspidors, and
the objects of my invention are to provide a cuspidor from which the contents cannot become spilled when the cuspidor is accidentally tilted or upset, and to provide a cuspidor with a novel support that permits of the cuspidor being used irrespective of the position of the support.
Further ob ects of the invention are to provide a cuspidor support that can be easily and quickly attached to an ordinary type of cuspidor for movably supporting the same, and to accomplish the above results by a mechanical construction that is simple, durableand highly eflicient for the purposes for which it is intended.
With the above and other objects in view the invention resides in a novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter specifically described and then claimed.
Reference will now be had to the drawing, wherein Figure 1 is a side elevation of the cuspidor, Fig. 2 is a vertical transverse sectional view of the same, Fig. 3 is a plan of the cuspidor support, Fig. 4 is a vertical cross sectional view of the cuspidor support, and Fig. 5 is a side elevation of a clamping band adapted to form part of the support.
A cuspidor in accordance with this inven-.
tion comprises a horizontal platform l'having a large central circular opening 2. The platform 1 has'the edges thereof cut away, as at 3 and provided with corner posts 4 adapted to support the latform in an elevated position said lat orm beingarranged intermediate t e en s of the posts and suitably connected thereto. Inner diametrically opposed walls of the opening 2 are provided with wear plates 5 and pivotall connected to said plates by pins is a rmg soldered or otherwlse connected to inner diametrically opposed walls of the ring 7 are brackets 8, said brackets being located intermediate the pins 6. The brackets 8 are provlded with trunnions 9 extending from the ring 7 through said brackets and having the I outer ends thereof provided with spacing sleeves 10. The inner ends of the trunnions 9 extend into a sectional clampin band, said band comprising sections 11 an together, as at 13. The end of the section 12 is cut away, as at 14 to provide clearance for the trunnion .9 of the section 11, and this end of the sect-ion 12 has an oblong slot 15 and a handle 16, said handle facilitating the connecting of the ends of said band; The'slot 15 is adapted to receive a pin 17 carried by the end of the section 11. The clamping band is adapted to embrace the neck 18 of a cuspidor 19, said cuspidor having a bottom thereof weighted, as at 20.
From the foregoing it' will be observed that the cuspidor or rece tacle is universally swung or suspended wit in the platform 1 and that the weighted bottom of the cuspidor will normally maintain the same in 12 hinged an upright position preventing the contents a cuspidor, of i the sections of said band having a slot formed therein, a handle carried by the same section of said band and a in carried by the other section of said band and adapted to extend into" the slot of the other section, substantially as described.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
GASPAR RAPAWY.
