To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, ADOLPH J. F. EHRIGH, a citizen of the United States, residing at Helena, .in the county of Lewis and Clark and State of Montana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Scrotal Trusses; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to new and useful improvements in trusses, and has for an object the provision of a device of this charecter so formed as to provide for the perfect adjustment of the parts according tothe nature or location of the rupture.
Another object of this invention is the production of a device for the purpose disclosed, which will be simple in construction, and which can be manufactured and sold at a very low cost.
With this and other objects in view, this invention resides in the novel features of construction, vcombinations and arrangements of parts to be hereinafter more fully described, claimed and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, in which- Figure 1 is a perspective viewV of my improved truss; Fig. 2 is a detail view of one of the springs removed.
Referring to the drawingsby characters of reference, the numeral 1 designates generally a belt, consisting of a pair of opposite side members 2 and 3, formed of leather 01T other suitable material, connected at their rear ends by an elastic strap 4, and at their `forward ends by straps 5 and 6, the inner ends of which are detachably connected by a buckle or other fastening device 7 Pads S, reinforced upon their outer faces, are slidably mounted upon the straps 5 and 6, and have secured to their reinforcing plates 9 by metal clips 10, held thereon by means of a set screw 11, springs 12, the outer ends of which are formed with knobs or enlargements 13, which rest upon the side members 2 and 3 which are preferably curved inwardly to form run-ways for the enlargements. These springs 12 are adjustably connected to the elastic strap 4 adjacent the rear ends of the side members 2 and 3 by straps 14. Limb engaging members 15 extend from the pads 8 to the rear of the side mem-` bers 2 and 3, to which they are adjustably attached. The lower ends of the pads 8 are held at any desired distance apart by a strap 16.
From the foregoing disclosure it will be manifest that a truss is provided for which will fulfil all the necessary requirements of such a device.
Having thus fully described this invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. In a truss comprising a pair of side members connected at their rear ends by a flexible member, and at vtheir forward ends by adjustable members, of ,pads slidable upon the forward connecting members, springs extending from the pads around the side members and provided with enlargements slidably engaging lth'e said side members, straps adjustably connecting the springs to the adjustable member, a retaining strap connecting the pads, limb-engaging members connecting the pads tothe rear of the belt, and plates secured to the said pads at the opposite ends thereof for the purpose of reinforcing the pads, and said plates adapted to fit over the said adjustable members to provide guides for the pads.
2. In a truss comprising a pair of side members connected at their rear ends by a flexible member and at their forward ends by adjustable members, of pads slidable upon the forward connecting members, a retaining strap connecting the pads, said side members being curved inwardly to provide a run-way, springs extending from the pads around the side members, enlargements provided on said springs adapted to be seated in the said run-ways, and straps adjust-ably connecting the springs to the flexible member.
