Description

無線傳輸/接收單元
本發明係有關無線通信系統。更特別是，本發明係有關當以多模式無線傳輸/接收單元(WTRU)實行不同無線存取技術(RAT)時，切換彼此相連之無線通信系統間無線存取技術之方法及系統。
通用行動電信系統(UMTS)及無線區域網路(WLAN)技術係被廣泛用於目前無線通信系統中。因為通用行動電信系統及無線區域網路之涵蓋區域通常被重疊，所以通用行動電信系統及無線區域網路之互連係被發展。互連無線區域網路(I-WLAN)係為具有對通用行動電信系統核心網路之無線區域網路，所以通用行動電信系統提供之服務係可經由互連無線區域網路來轉傳。
目前，互連無線區域網路之網路選擇係要求無線傳輸/接收單元使用其服務組識別號(SSIDs)來掃描可用無線區域網路系統。服務組識別號掃描可被動或主動達成。被動掃描時，無線傳輸/接收單元係觀察來自各無線區域網路之資訊廣播，並依據信號強度來決定其可用性。主動掃描時，無線傳輸/接收單元係傳送包含特定無線區域網路服務組識別號之探測要求，並等待來自該無線區域網路可用性之確認。
然而，這些技術並不提供可存取通用行動電信系統為基礎服務之任何無線區域網路(服務組識別號)指示。若干解決方案係被設計包含於無線區域網路上傳播頻道上傳播家用公眾陸地行動網路(PLMN)識別。然而，因為無線區域網路服務組識別號並非唯一，所以該技術易被模仿(破壞性無線區域網路操作者可傳播相同服務組識別號及公眾陸地行動網路識別號)。
因此，為連接至通用行動電信系統為基礎服務之通用行動電信系統為基礎互連無線區域網路選擇，係因無線傳輸/接收單元必須選擇自及破壞性操作者使用類似服務組識別號來引導訊務朝向其網路減輕之大量無線區域網路(服務組識別號)而可能有問題。於是，需要一種提供對通用行動電信系統為基礎服務之存取之無線區域網路(服務組識別號)指示。
本發明係為當以多模式無線傳輸/接收單元實行不同無線存取技術時，切換彼此相連之無線通信系統間無線存取技術之方法及系統。複數無線通信系統係被配置於重疊涵蓋區域，其中各無線通信系統係實行不同無線存取技術，且被彼此相連使被一無線通信系統提供之服務可經由其他無線通信系統來提供。各無線通信系統係傳送各無線通信系統涵蓋區域中之互連無線通信系統存在之指示。無線傳輸/接收單元係接收有關互連無線通信系統之指示及資訊。無線傳輸/接收單元接著使用該被接收資訊啟動對互連無線通信系統之交遞，藉此無線傳輸/接收單元繼續接收相同於無線傳輸/接收單元經由互連無線通信系統接收來自目前被連接無線通信系統之服務。本發明有助於降低多模式無線傳輸/接收單元選擇及認證互連無線通信系統所需時間。
此後，"無線傳輸/接收單元"名詞係包含但不限於使用者設備，行動台，固定或行動用戶單元，呼叫器，或可操作於無線環境中之任何其他類型元件。此後，當被稱為"基地台"及"存取點"名詞者係包含但不限於B節點，位址控制器，或無線環境中之任何其他接介裝置。
第1圖係為依據本發明之無線通信系統100方塊圖。系統100係包含實行不同無線存取技術之至少兩個不同類型無線通信網路110，120。例如第1圖所示，一類無線網路係為較佳操作於第三代夥伴計劃(3GPP)標準下之通用行動電信系統陸地無線存取網路(見通用行動電信系統陸地無線存取網路胞元110)，而另一類無線網路係為較佳操作於IEEE802.11標準下之無線區域網路120。為了說明本發明，僅一通用行動電信系統陸地無線存取網路胞元110被顯示。然而，應注意熟練技術人士係熟知通用行動電信系統陸地無線存取網路通常包含複數胞元。
為了方便，本發明係參考通用行動電信系統陸地無線存取網路及無線區域網路來說明。然而，應注意熟練技術人士了解本發明可被應用於任何類型無線通信系統，且另外可具有兩種以上不同類型無線通信系統。
無線通信系統110，120涵蓋區域係彼此重疊。如在此使用之通用行動電信系統陸地無線存取網路-無線區域網路例子，無線區域網路120涵蓋區域通常位於通用行動電信系統陸地無線存取網路胞元110較大涵蓋區域內。無線區域網路120係被連接至通用行動電信系統陸地無線存取網路胞元110，使被提供於通用行動電信系統陸地無線存取網路胞元110內之服務可經由無線區域網路120被轉傳至多模式無線傳輸/接收單元102。因此，如上述，無線區域網路120亦被稱為互連無線區域網路。被放置於重疊區域中之多模式無線傳輸/接收單元102可同時對兩類無線通信系統，且可經由另一網路接收一網路所提供之服務。
依據本發明，通用行動電信系統陸地無線存取網路胞元110係傳送存在任何互連無線區域網路之指示，或替代性被放置於通用行動電信系統陸地無線存取網路胞元110內之互連無線區域網路之服務組識別號列表至無線傳輸/接收單元102。該指示或服務組識別號表列可如預期地被傳送。例如，其可經由傳播控制頻道(BCCH)傳播或經由專用控制頻道(DCCH)傳送。其中系統100係被配置於傳播控制頻道上傳送該指示或列表，當連接至通用行動電信系統陸地無線存取網路胞元110或建立無線承載時，無線傳輸/接收單元可能但不需提供其無線區域網路容量(也就是無論其是否可操作於無線區域網路)。
依據第一實施例，僅通用行動電信系統陸地無線存取網路胞元110內之任何互連無線區域網路存在之指示被傳送。如上述，該指示可如預期般被傳送，但較佳被傳送於該胞元110之傳播控制頻道上或專用控制頻道上。無線傳輸/接收單元102接收該指示，且若系統間交遞之預定準則(也就是將無線傳輸/接收單元102從通用行動電信系統陸地無線存取網路胞元110交遞至無線區域網路120之預定準則)被滿足，則無線傳輸/接收單元102係從通用行動電信系統陸地無線存取網路胞元110要求服務組識別號表列。當然，應了解預定準則可為任何類型準則，且評估是否實際執行系統間交遞係可藉由無線傳輸/接收單元102或交遞可發生自之網路之任何網路組件，其於此例中為通用行動電信系統陸地無線存取網路來評估。一旦無線傳輸/接收單元102接收服務組識別號表列，則服務組識別號係被被動或主動使用來掃描，連結及認證互連無線區域網路120內之適當存取點。此方案確保無線傳輸/接收單元102可存取提供對通用行動電信系統陸地無線存取網路胞元110及其第三代夥伴計劃為基礎服務之連接。系統間交遞準則被滿足且具有互連無線區域網路120內之適當存取點來交遞者，無線傳輸/接收單元102係被交遞至互連無線區域網路120且開始操作於其間。
可替代是，無線傳輸/接收單元102可於評估系統間交遞準則之前要求服務組識別號表列，以確認執行該評估之前是否具有適用存取點。
依據第二實施例，系統100係如上述作操作，但除了第一傳送通用行動電信系統陸地無線存取網路胞元110內存在任何互連無線區域網路之指示外，此實施例中，通用行動電信系統陸地無線存取網路胞元110僅傳送服務組識別號表列。此可提供服務組識別號表列不太高之加強效能。是否實行該第一或第二實施例係屬操作者喜好。
第2圖係為依據本發明之切換無線存取技術之處理200流程圖。複數無線通信系統係被配置重疊涵蓋區域。各無線通信系統係實行不同無線存取技術，且被配置使被一無線通信系統提供之服務可經由其他無線通信系統來提供。
各無線通信系統係傳送互連無線通信系統存在之指示，選擇性與實行不同無線存取技術於各無線通信系統涵蓋區域內之替代無線通信系統之資訊(包含識別號，頻率等)(步驟202)。該指示及/或資訊可被傳播至無線傳輸/接收單元，或可經由專用頻道被傳送給無線傳輸/接收單元。無線傳輸/接收單元可經由目前被連接無線通信系統(也就是無線傳輸/接收單元目前被連接之無線通信系統)來接收該指示及/或資訊(步驟204)。
可替代是，該指示及/或資訊可被傳送回應該資訊之要求訊息或來自該無線傳輸/接收單元之功能報告。回應時，目前被連接之無線通信系統係傳送互連無線通信系統可用性指示及/或有關無線通信系統之指示至無線傳輸/接收單元。該例中，該指示及/或資訊可經由專用控制頻道被傳送至無線傳輸/接收單元。
接收該指示及/或資訊之後，係決定是否啟動對互連無線通信系統之交遞(步驟206)。如上述，此決定可於網路或無線傳輸/接收單元處被達成，且可以如預期任何預定準則為基礎。該交遞可藉由使用者之要求來啟動或以服務要求為基礎被獨立啟動。無線傳輸/接收單元可於其顯示螢幕上顯示互連無線通信系統之可用性或提供警告相同使用者之警報。若決定將無線傳輸/接收單元交遞至互連無線通信系統且僅若該指示被傳送，則無線傳輸/接收單元要求有關互連無線通信系統之資訊並從該目前被連接無線通信系統接收它(步驟208)。若該資訊被與該指示一起傳送或無任何指示被自動傳送，則步驟208被跳過。無線傳輸/接收單元接著使用該被接收資訊啟動交遞程序(步驟210)。
如在此被使用之通用行動電信系統陸地無線存取網路-無線區域網路例之情況中，該資訊可為互連無線區域網路之服務組識別號，且選擇性可進一步包含對應公眾陸地行動網路識別號及各服務組識別號之對應座標(也就是位置)。無線傳輸/接收單元可於接收互連無線區域網路之服務組識別號之後啟動主動或被動掃描被辨識無線區域網路。該無線區域網路之掃描可被限制為該被接收服務組識別號識別之無線區域網路。
與特定無線區域網路存取點之連結係可以頻道品質量測為基礎。若來自所有無線區域網路之頻道品質量測係位於預定門檻下，則起始通用行動電信系統陸地無線存取網路連接係被維持。若可接受無線區域網路存取點被找到，則通用行動電信系統陸地無線存取網路可被通知胞元改變於胞元改變之專用頻道上。連接安全可藉由如有線等位私密(WEP)資訊之資訊來致動。無線傳輸/接收單元繼續掃描無線區域網路連結及取消連結之共同服務組識別號存取點。若可接受存取點未被找到，則無線傳輸/接收單元可掃描被已知服務組識別號辨識之替代無線區域網路，或回復至通用行動電信系統陸地無線存取網路連接。此例中，無線存取技術胞元間改變指示可被傳送。交遞無線存取技術之選擇可以預定門檻內之品質量測為基礎自動或被使用者輸入手動控制。無線存取技術胞元改變之後，無線傳輸/接收單元繼續接收相同於無線傳輸/接收單元經由替代無線通信系統接收來自目前被連接無線通信系統之服務。
第3圖係為依據本發明之無線傳輸/接收單元102，通用行動電信系統陸地無線存取網路胞元110及無線區域網路120間之訊息交遞用於從通用行動電信系統陸地無線存取網路胞元110至無線區域網路120之交遞之處理200例之信號傳送圖。通用行動電信系統陸地無線存取網路胞元110係傳送任何互連無線區域網路可用性之指示(及/或選擇性與可用無線區域網路之服務組識別號表列一起)(步驟302)。該傳輸可藉由來自指示無線傳輸/接收單元102之無線區域網路功能之無線傳輸/接收單元102之報告來啟動。無線傳輸/接收單元102係接收互連無線區域網路可用指示及/或服務組識別號表列(步驟304)。僅指示被傳送之例中，無線傳輸/接收單元102係傳送無線區域網路之服務組識別號要求(步驟306)。服務組識別號表列被與指示一起被傳送或表列不與任何指示被單獨傳送之例中，步驟306-310係被刪除。接收要求時，通用行動電信系統陸地無線存取網路胞元110係檢索服務組識別號資訊(步驟308)。通用行動電信系統陸地無線存取網路胞元110係傳送無線區域網路服務組識別號表列及選擇性其相關位置及公眾陸地行動網路識別號(步驟310)。接收服務組識別號表列之後，無線傳輸/接收單元102係將其儲存於記憶體中，並使用該表列主動或被動掃描適當存取點(步驟312)。若無線傳輸/接收單元102位於無線區域網路涵蓋範圍內，則無線傳輸/接收單元102啟動互連無線區域網路選擇(步驟312)。無線傳輸/接收單元102係以被選擇無線區域網路啟動無線區域網路服務(步驟314)。如以下更詳細解釋(步驟316)，無線區域網路120可認證無線傳輸/接收單元102，若需要通常可視被實行之互連計劃類型來分配新網際網路協定位址。認證被完成於步驟318之後，對無線區域網路之存取係針對無線傳輸/接收單元102被保證(步驟320)。

Claims (8)

  1. 一種無線傳輸/接收單元(WTRU)，包括：一傳輸器，被配置用於經由一胞元存取網路發送一第一訊息，該第一訊息指出該WTRU能使用一無線區域網路(WLAN)技術進行通信；一接收器，被配置用於：經由該胞元存取網路從一核心網路接收一服務；以及經由該胞元存取網路接收一第二訊息以回應於該第一訊息，該第二訊息包括可用於切換的WLAN的服務組識別號(SSID)；以及一處理器，被配置用於選擇由該SSID所指示的該WLAN的其中之一以及啟動到該選擇的WLAN的一切換；其中該接收器被配置用於回應於該切換而經由該選擇的WLAN接收該服務。
