Description

電泳顯示裝置
本發明是有關於一種平面顯示裝置,且特別是有關於一種電泳顯示裝置。
傳統的電子式廣告看板、智慧卡(smart card)與電子標籤都是採用液晶顯示裝置(Liquid Crystal Display,LCD)來顯示某些特定的畫面,以藉由這些特定畫面將特定的資訊傳達給人們。然而,採用液晶顯示裝置的智慧卡與電子標籤不僅耗電,亦不可撓曲,因而造成使用上的種種限制與不便。此外,採用液晶顯示裝置的電子式廣告看板不僅耗電,且這種電子式廣告看板所顯示的畫面無法在陽光下被清楚地辨識。
本發明提供一種電泳顯示裝置,其適合應用於電子式廣告看板、智慧卡與電子標籤等需顯示某些特定畫面的資訊傳遞媒介上。
本發明提出一種電泳顯示裝置,其包括有電子墨水層、被動式矩陣基板以及導電層。所述之被動式矩陣基板具有電極表面,且此電極表面具有多個電極。而所述之導電層具有預設形狀,且此導電層配置於電子墨水層與被動式矩陣基板的電極表面之間,以便將電性接觸到之電極上的訊號傳遞至電子墨水層,進而使電子墨水層顯示出具有上述預設形狀之畫面。
依照本發明一實施例所述,上述之電泳顯示裝置更包括有一封面。此封面用以覆蓋電子墨水層的顯示區域,且此封面具有預設圖案與預設文字至少其中之一。此外,在這個封面中,對應於電子墨水層所顯示之預設形狀的部分為簍空。
依照本發明另一實施例所述,上述之電泳顯示裝置更包括有一封面。此封面用以覆蓋電子墨水層的顯示區域,且此封面具有預設圖案與預設文字至少其中之一。此外,在這個封面中,對應於電子墨水層所顯示之預設形狀的部分為透明。
依照本發明再一實施例所述,上述之電泳顯示裝置更包括有一封面。此封面用以覆蓋電子墨水層的部分顯示區域,且此封面係露出電子墨水層所顯示之預設形狀。此外,這個封面還具有預設圖案與預設文字至少其中之一。
依照本發明一實施例所述,上述電泳顯示裝置之導電層的材料與上述各電極的材料相同,而這些電極的材料包括銅、銀與碳至少其中之一。
依照本發明一實施例所述,上述電泳顯示裝置之導電層的型態可為固態、液態或膠狀物,而此導電層的配置包括以絹印塗佈方式、狹縫塗佈方式或是手動塗佈方式來實現。
依照本發明一實施例所述,上述電泳顯示裝置之電子墨水層係用以顯示黑白畫面或彩色畫面。
依照本發明一實施例所述,上述電泳顯示裝置之導電層的面積係小於電子墨水層的面積與被動式矩陣基板的面積。
本發明乃是以一電子墨水層、一被動式矩陣基板與一導電層來建構一電泳顯示裝置。所述之導電層具有預設形狀,且此導電層係配置於電子墨水層與被動式矩陣基板的電極表面之間,以便將電性接觸到之電極上的訊號傳遞至電子墨水層,進而使電子墨水層顯示出具有上述預設形狀之畫面。由於導電層的形狀可以視實際需求來進行設計,因此本發明之電泳顯示裝置適合應用於電子式廣告看板、智慧卡與電子標籤等需顯示某些特定畫面的資訊傳遞媒介上。而由於電泳顯示裝置具可撓性且較液晶顯示裝置來得省電,因此採用電泳顯示裝置的智慧卡與電子標籤就不需經常更換電池或經常充電,也不用怕太過容易折壞,破除了傳統智慧卡與電子標籤的種種限制與不便。此外,由於電泳顯示裝置係利用環境光源來進行顯示,因此採用電泳顯示裝置之電子式廣告看板所顯示的畫面在陽光下能夠被清楚地辨識。
值得一提的是,由於電子墨水層乃是一層薄膜材,因此電泳顯示裝置的製造商可以將電子墨水層與被動式矩陣基板直接提供給客戶,讓客戶自行配置與設計導電層,從而能自行組裝出具獨特畫面風格的電泳顯示裝置。而這樣的做法將能提供客戶於設計上更大的彈性。
為讓本發明之上述和其他目的、特徵和優點能更明顯易懂,下文特舉較佳實施例,並配合所附圖式,作詳細說明如下。
圖1為依照本發明一實施例之電泳顯示裝置的剖面示意圖。請參照圖1,此電泳顯示裝置100包括有電子墨水層10、被動式矩陣基板11、導電層12以及封面13。被動式矩陣基板11具有電極表面(未標示),而此電極表面具有多個電極101。導電層12具有預設形狀,且此導電層12係配置於電子墨水層10與被動式矩陣基板11的電極表面之間,以便將電性接觸到之電極上的訊號傳遞至電子墨水層10,進而使電子墨水層10顯示出具有預設形狀之畫面(詳後述)。至於封面13,其用以覆蓋電子墨水層10的顯示區域,且此封面13具有預設圖案與預設文字至少其中之一。此外,在這個封面13中,對應於電子墨水層10所顯示之預設形狀的部分為簍空或為透明(詳後述)。
圖2為前述電泳顯示裝置進行顯示時的疊層示意圖。在圖2中,標號與圖1中之標號相同者表示為相同物件。請參照圖2,由於導電層12具有預設形狀,且又將電性接觸到之電極101上的訊號傳遞至電子墨水層10,因此電子墨水層10便會顯示出具有前述預設形狀的畫面。而由於封面13具有預設圖案202,且在此封面13中,對應於電子墨水層10所顯示之預設形狀的部分為簍空或透明,因此除了可讓人看到封面13既有的預設圖案202之外,還能讓人看到電子墨水層10所顯示的預設形狀。
由於導電層12的形狀及封面13上的預設圖案與預設文字皆可以視實際需求來進行設計,因此電泳顯示裝置100適合應用於電子式廣告看板、智慧卡與電子標籤等需顯示某些特定畫面的資訊傳遞媒介上。
當然,前述封面13的大小可視實際之需要而改變,且前述封面13亦可視實際之需要而決定是否採用。舉例來說,設計者可減少封面13的大小,以便利用此封面13覆蓋電子墨水層10的部分顯示區域,並露出電子墨水層10所顯示之預設形狀。
值得一提的是,前述導電層12的材料與前述電極101的材料可為相同,而前述電極101的材料可以是採用銅、銀與碳至少其中之一來實現。此外,前述導電層12的形態可為固態、液態或膠狀物,而導電層12的配置可以絹印塗佈方式、狹縫塗佈方式或是手動塗佈方式來實現。另外,僅管在前述說明中,導電層12的面積係小於電子墨水層10的面積與被動式矩陣基板11的面積,然而此並非用以限定本發明。此外,前述之電子墨水層10係用以顯示黑白畫面或彩色畫面。
綜上所述,本發明乃是以一電子墨水層、一被動式矩陣基板與一導電層來建構一電泳顯示裝置。所述之導電層具有預設形狀,且此導電層係配置於電子墨水層與被動式矩陣基板的電極表面之間,以便將電性接觸到之電極上的訊號傳遞至電子墨水層,進而使電子墨水層顯示出具有上述預設形狀之畫面。由於導電層的形狀可以視實際需求來進行設計,因此本發明之電泳顯示裝置適合應用於電子式廣告看板、智慧卡與電子標籤等需顯示某些特定畫面的資訊傳遞媒介上。而由於電泳顯示裝置具可撓性且較液晶顯示裝置來得省電,因此採用電泳顯示裝置的智慧卡與電子標籤就不需經常更換電池或經常充電,也不用怕太過容易折壞,破除了傳統智慧卡與電子標籤的種種限制與不便。此外,由於電泳顯示裝置係利用環境光源來進行顯示,因此採用電泳顯示裝置之電子式廣告看板所顯示的畫面在陽光下能夠被清楚地辨識。
值得一提的是,由於電子墨水層乃是一層薄膜材,因此電泳顯示裝置的製造商可以將電子墨水層與被動式矩陣基板直接提供給客戶,讓客戶自行配置與設計導電層,從而能自行組裝出具獨特畫面風格的電泳顯示裝置。而這樣的做法將能提供客戶於設計上更大的彈性。
雖然本發明已以較佳實施例揭露如上,然其並非用以限定本發明,任何熟習此技藝者,在不脫離本發明之精神和範圍內,當可作些許之更動與潤飾,因此本發明之保護範圍當視後附之申請專利範圍所界定者為準。

Claims (10)

  1. 一種電泳顯示裝置,包括:一電子墨水層;一被動式矩陣基板,具有一電極表面,該電極表面具有多個電極;一導電層,具有一預設形狀,並配置於該電子墨水層與該被動式矩陣基板之該電極表面之間,以便將電性接觸到之該些電極上的訊號傳遞至該電子墨水層,進而使該電子墨水層顯示出具有該預設形狀之畫面。
  2. 如申請專利範圍第1項所述之電泳顯示裝置,其更包括:一封面,用以覆蓋該電子墨水層的顯示區域,並具有一預設圖案與一預設文字至少其中之一,且在該封面中,對應於該電子墨水層所顯示之該預設形狀的部分為簍空。
  3. 如申請專利範圍第1項所述之電泳顯示裝置,其更包括:一封面,用以覆蓋該電子墨水層的顯示區域,並具有一預設圖案與一預設文字至少其中之一,且在該封面中,對應於該電子墨水層所顯示之該預設形狀的部分為透明。
  4. 如申請專利範圍第1項所述之電泳顯示裝置,其更包括:一封面,用以覆蓋該電子墨水層的部分顯示區域,並露出該電子墨水層所顯示之該預設形狀,且該封面具有一預設圖案與一預設文字至少其中之一。
  5. 如申請專利範圍第1項所述之電泳顯示裝置,其中該導電層的材料與該些電極的材料相同。
  6. 如申請專利範圍第5項所述之電泳顯示裝置,其中該些電極的材料包括銅、銀與碳至少其中之一。
  7. 如申請專利範圍第1項所述之電泳顯示裝置,其中該導電層的形態為固態、液態或膠狀物。
  8. 如申請專利範圍第7項所述之電泳顯示裝置,其中該導電層的配置包括以一絹印塗佈方式、一狹縫塗佈方式或是一手動塗佈方式來實現。
  9. 如申請專利範圍第1項所述之電泳顯示裝置,其中該電子墨水層用以顯示黑白畫面或彩色畫面。
  10. 如申請專利範圍第1項所述之電泳顯示裝置,其中該導電層的面積小於該電子墨水層的面積與該被動式矩陣基板的面積。
