Abstract

本发明提供一种电泳显示装置,其包括电子墨水层、被动式矩阵基板以及导电层。被动式矩阵基板具有电极表面,此电极表面亦具有多个电极。导电层具有预设形状,并配置于电子墨水层与被动式矩阵基板的电极表面之间。本发明的电泳显示装置可应用于电子式广告广告牌、智能卡与电子卷标等需显示某些特定画面的信息传递媒介上。

电泳显示装置
技术领域
本发明是有关于一种平面显示装置,且特别是有关于一种电泳显示装置。
背景技术
传统的电子式广告广告牌、智能卡(smart card)与电子卷标都是采用液晶显示装置(Liquid Crystal Display, LCD)来显示某些特定的画面,以藉由这些特定画面将特定的信息传达给人们。然而,采用液晶显示装置的智能卡与电子卷标不仅耗电,亦不可挠曲,因而造成使用上的种种限制与不便。此外,采用液晶显示装置的电子式广告广告牌不仅耗电,且这种电子式广告广告牌所显示的画面无法在阳光下被清楚地辨识。
发明内容
本发明提供一种电泳显示装置,其适合应用于电子式广告广告牌、智能卡与电子卷标等需显示某些特定画面的信息传递媒介上。
本发明提出一种电泳显示装置,其包括有电子墨水层、被动式矩阵基板以及导电层。所述的被动式矩阵基板具有电极表面,且此电极表面具有多个电极。而所述的导电层具有预设形状,且此导电层配置于电子墨水层与被动式矩阵基板的电极表面之间。
在本发明的一个实施例中,上述的电泳显示装置更包括有一封面。此封面用以覆盖电子墨水层的显示区域,且此封面具有预设图案与预设文字至少其中之一。此外,在这个封面中,对应于电子墨水层所显示的预设形状的部分为篓空。
在本发明的一个实施例中,上述的电泳显示装置更包括有一封面。此封面用以覆盖电子墨水层的显示区域,且此封面具有预设图案与预设文字至少其中之一。此外,在这个封面中,对应于电子墨水层所显示的预设形状的部分为透明。
在本发明的一个实施例中,上述的电泳显示装置更包括有一封面。此封面用以覆盖电子墨水层的部分显示区域,且此封面系露出电子墨水层所显示的预设形状。此外,这个封面还具有预设图案与预设文字至少其中之一。
在本发明的一个实施例中,上述电泳显示装置的导电层的材料与上述各电极的材料相同,而这些电极的材料包括铜、银与碳至少其中之一。
在本发明的一个实施例中,上述电泳显示装置的导电层的型态可为固态、液态或胶状物,而此导电层的配置包括以绢印涂布方式、狭缝涂布方式或是手动涂布方式来实现。
在本发明的一个实施例中,上述电泳显示装置的电子墨水层系用以显示黑白画面或彩色画面。
在本发明的一个实施例中,上述电泳显示装置的导电层的面积系小于电子墨水层的面积与被动式矩阵基板的面积。
本发明是以一电子墨水层、一被动式矩阵基板与一导电层来建构一电泳显示装置。所述的导电层具有预设形状,且此导电层系配置于电子墨水层与被动式矩阵基板的电极表面之间,以便将电性接触到的电极上的讯号传递至电子墨水层,进而使电子墨水层显示出具有上述预设形状的画面。由于导电层的形状可以视实际需求来进行设计,因此本发明的电泳显示装置适合应用于电子式广告广告牌、智能卡与电子卷标等需显示某些特定画面的信息传递媒介上。而由于电泳显示装置具可挠性且较液晶显示装置来得省电,因此采用电泳显示装置的智能卡与电子卷标就不需经常更换电池或经常充电,也不用怕太过容易折坏,破除了传统智能卡与电子卷标的种种限制与不便。此外,由于电泳显示装置系利用环境光源来进行显示,因此采用电泳显示装置的电子式广告广告牌所显示的画面在阳光下能够被清楚地辨识。
值得一提的是,由于电子墨水层是一层薄膜材,因此电泳显示装置的制造商可以将电子墨水层与被动式矩阵基板直接提供给客户,让客户自行配置与设计导电层,从而能自行组装出具独特画面风格的电泳显示装置。而这样的做法将能提供客户于设计上更大的弹性。
上述说明仅是本发明技术方案的概述,为了能够更清楚了解本发明的技术手段,而可依照说明书的内容予以实施,并且为了让本发明的上述和其它目的、特征和优点能够更明显易懂,以下特举较佳实施例,并配合附图,详细说明如下。

具体实施方式
为更进一步阐述本发明为达成预定发明目的所采取的技术手段及功效,以下结合附图及较佳实施例,对依据本发明提出的电泳显示装置其具体实施方式、结构、特征及其功效,详细说明如后。
图1为依照本发明一实施例的电泳显示装置的剖面示意图。请参照图1,此电泳显示装置100包括有电子墨水层10、被动式矩阵基板11、导电层12以及封面13。被动式矩阵基板11具有电极表面(未标示),而此电极表面具有多个电极101。导电层12具有预设形状,且此导电层12系配置于电子墨水层10与被动式矩阵基板11的电极表面之间,以便将电性接触到的电极上的讯号传递至电子墨水层10,进而使电子墨水层10显示出具有预设形状的画面(详后述)。至于封面13,其用以覆盖电子墨水层10的显示区域,且此封面13具有预设图案与预设文字至少其中之一。此外,在这个封面13中,对应于电子墨水层10所显示的预设形状的部分为篓空或为透明(详后述)。
图2为前述电泳显示装置进行显示时的叠层示意图。在图2中,标号与图1中的标号相同者表示为相同对象。请参照图2,由于导电层12具有预设形状,且又将电性接触到的电极101上的讯号传递至电子墨水层10,因此电子墨水层10便会显示出具有前述预设形状的画面。而由于封面13具有预设图案202,且在此封面13中,对应于电子墨水层10所显示的预设形状的部分为篓空或透明,因此除了可让人看到封面13既有的预设图案202之外,还能让人看到电子墨水层10所显示的预设形状。
由于导电层12的形状及封面13上的预设图案与预设文字皆可以视实际需求来进行设计,因此电泳显示装置100适合应用于电子式广告广告牌、智能卡与电子卷标等需显示某些特定画面的信息传递媒介上。
当然,前述封面13的大小可视实际的需要而改变,且前述封面13亦可视实际的需要而决定是否采用。举例来说,设计者可减少封面13的大小,以便利用此封面13覆盖电子墨水层10的部分显示区域,并露出电子墨水层10所显示的预设形状。
值得一提的是,前述导电层12的材料与前述电极101的材料可为相同,而前述电极101的材料可以是采用铜、银与碳至少其中之一来实现。此外,前述导电层12的形态可为固态、液态或胶状物,而导电层12的配置可以绢印涂布方式、狭缝涂布方式或是手动涂布方式来实现。另外,仅管在前述说明中,导电层12的面积系小于电子墨水层10的面积与被动式矩阵基板11的面积,然而此并非用以限定本发明。此外,前述的电子墨水层10系用以显示黑白画面或彩色画面。
综上所述,本发明是以一电子墨水层、一被动式矩阵基板与一导电层来建构一电泳显示装置。所述的导电层具有预设形状,且此导电层系配置于电子墨水层与被动式矩阵基板的电极表面之间,以便将电性接触到的电极上的讯号传递至电子墨水层,进而使电子墨水层显示出具有上述预设形状的画面。由于导电层的形状可以视实际需求来进行设计,因此本发明的电泳显示装置适合应用于电子式广告广告牌、智能卡与电子卷标等需显示某些特定画面的信息传递媒介上。而由于电泳显示装置具可挠性且较液晶显示装置来得省电,因此采用电泳显示装置的智能卡与电子卷标就不需经常更换电池或经常充电,也不用怕太过容易折坏,破除了传统智能卡与电子卷标的种种限制与不便。此外,由于电泳显示装置系利用环境光源来进行显示,因此采用电泳显示装置的电子式广告广告牌所显示的画面在阳光下能够被清楚地辨识。

Claims (9)

1.一种电泳显示装置,包括一电子墨水层、一被动式矩阵基板及一导电层,所述被动式矩阵基板具有一电极表面,所述电极表面具有多个电极,其特征在于:
所述导电层具有一预设形状,并配置于该电子墨水层与该被动式矩阵基板的该电极表面之间,以便将电性接触到之电极上的讯号传递至电子墨水层,进而使电子墨水层显示出具有上述预设形状之画面;
所述电泳显示装置更包括一封面,用以覆盖及遮蔽该电子墨水层的部分显示区域,并露出该电子墨水层所显示的该预设形状,且该封面具有一预设图案与一预设文字至少其中之一。
2.如权利要求1所述的电泳显示装置,其特征在于,该封面对应于该电子墨水层所显示的该预设形状的部分为篓空。
3.如权利要求1所述的电泳显示装置,其特征在于
该封面对应于该电子墨水层所显示的该预设形状的部分为透明。
4.如权利要求1所述的电泳显示装置,其特征在于,该导电层的材料与该些电极的材料相同。
5.如权利要求4所述的电泳显示装置,其特征在于,该些电极的材料包括铜、银与碳至少其中之一。
6.如权利要求1所述的电泳显示装置,其特征在于,该导电层的形态为固态、液态或胶状物。
7.如权利要求6所述的电泳显示装置,其特征在于,该导电层的配置包括以一绢印涂布方式、一狭缝涂布方式或是一手动涂布方式来实现。
8.如权利要求1所述的电泳显示装置,其特征在于,该电子墨水层用以显示黑白画面或彩色画面。
9.如权利要求1所述的电泳显示装置,其特征在于,该导电层的面积小于该电子墨水层的面积与该被动式矩阵基板的面积。
