Description
本發明係關於一種用於射出成型一熱塑性包裝容器部份之方法,該包裝容器部份連接至一開口裝置且連接至一包裝容器體之端部份。
本發明經開發以在將熱塑性包裝容器部份直接射出成型至其他包裝容器部份上之期間使用,例如,在將一包裝容器頂部射出成型至一包裝壓層套筒及一呈螺帽形式之熱塑性開口裝置期間。其結果係一可在其中裝填食物之包裝容器。本申請人係以Tetra Top及Tetra Aptiva商標銷售類似類型之包裝容器。
該射出成型實施於一包裝機器中,且在製作上述包裝容器期間,安裝一平鋪式管狀包裝壓層坯料並藉由將一熱塑性頂部直接射出成型至端部份上而將其密封於其端部之一者中。該頂部包括一由一頸部界定之澆注開口,該頸部具有可與一螺帽之內螺紋嚙合之外螺紋以用於密封該澆注開口。該帽定位於一模型腔中,且由此將具有該澆注開口之頸部直接射出成型於該帽中。
與習用射出成型相比,在一包裝機器中進行射出成型之循環時間極短。通常,製造一頂部之循環時間不應長於1秒。機器必需維持一高產量。
在射出成型後,以其開口端朝上輸送包裝容器,且在一後續填充站內填充該包裝容器。於某些情況下,在填充前,該包裝容器經過一個或若干個滅菌站。在填充後,折疊並密封該包裝容器之開口端。
欲射出成型之包裝容器部份可由薄壁材料製成,且例如,為製造此等部份,可使用(例如)本申請人申請之美國專利文件US 5,667,745中所闡述之射出成型技術。
自美國專利文件US 4,518,554中可知曉使用(例如)一螺帽作為該模型之一部件之技術。一般而言,該技術被稱作包覆成型。
然而,為能夠製造一在頂部與套筒之間具有令人滿意的密封品質之包裝容器,且同時使螺帽具有良好之可打開性,已顯示在不進行修改之情形下無法組合上述兩種技術。
已顯示套筒、螺帽及塑膠材料熔體之相對溫度起重要作用,以便既可使套筒適當地密封至頂部,亦可使螺帽不會如此牢固地黏結至頂部,而若非如此則消費者在打開包裝容器時將需要過度大之力。此外,溫度對於所需冷卻時間之長度亦係重要,且由此對於達成一短循環時間之可能性亦係重要。
本發明之目的係達成一種射出成型一熱塑性包裝容器部份之方法,該熱塑性包裝容器部份與一熱塑性開口裝置連接且與一包裝容器體之端部份連接,該體包括一至少呈一外層形式之熱塑性材料,該方法在該體與該包裝容器部份之間提供的一令人滿意之密封及該開口裝置之令人滿意之可打開性,且該方法可針對高產量需求而在一包裝機中使用。
上述目的係藉由一種包括如下步驟之方法所實現:將該端部份及該開口裝置之至少一部份佈置於一腔中,該腔係藉由將一內模部件及一外模部件組合在一起而形成;在該開口裝置與該端部份之間提供一溫度差,以使該端部份達到一比該開口裝置之彼溫度高之溫度;將至少一種至少一第一材料之熔體注射於該腔中;及使該熔體與該開口裝置及該端部份兩者接觸。為(例如)在密封包括聚乙烯的兩個包裝壓層期間獲得兩種熱塑性材料之間的一令人滿意之密封,通常需要加熱該兩個壓層。另外,已顯示,倘若所注射之熔體具有一高得足以達成密封之溫度(儘管在熔體與套筒之表面接觸時可導致冷卻),則可能在將一包裝容器部份直接射出成型至一具有室溫之包裝壓層套筒時獲得令人滿意之密封。然而,該溫度被認為過高而不適於在一開口裝置上進行射出成型,例如一螺帽,此乃因所提供之密封太強壯。特定而言,此係當將一包裝容器部份射出成型至一螺帽之情形,該螺帽係由相同之熱塑性材料或來自相同群組(例如聚烯烴群組(包含聚丙烯及聚乙烯兩者))之熱塑性材料製成。然而,依據(例如)材料成本及再循環態樣,合意之情形係使用來自相同群組之熱塑性材料。因此,藉由在該帽與該套筒之間提供一溫度差可解決該問題。一附加態樣係射出成型及冷卻之循環時間對包裝機之產量具有大影響。塑膠材料熔體之高溫需要較長之冷卻時間及/或更有效之冷卻。藉由本發明之方法,可使該熱塑性熔體之溫度保持低。
一較佳實施例包括以下步驟:於注射該熔體期間,將該等模型部件維持於一第一狀態中,其中該腔具有一大於該包裝容器部份中欲射出成型之容積之第一容積,並將該等模型部件壓在一起直到該熔體充滿整個腔,由此該腔形成一第二、較小容積,以使該熔體與該開口裝置及該體之該端部份兩者接觸。以此方式,可以一受控且有效之方式射出成型一薄壁包裝容器。
本發明之另一實施例包括藉由加熱該端部份提供該溫度差之步驟。然後,相對於一對於該開口裝置係適合的且適合於部件之間黏附之溫度,選擇該熱塑性材料熔體之溫度。然後,將該體之端部份加熱至一溫度,相對於該熱塑性材料熔體之溫度,該溫度適合於在該包裝容器部份與該端部份之間達成一適當密封。從一能量觀點來看,此實施例極為有利。藉由加熱該端部份,該熱塑性材料熔體之溫度可保持低,如先前所述,此可提供一短冷卻時間且由此該包裝機器之較佳產量。
一實施例包括藉由為內模部件提供在該體之端部份中產生熱之構件進行加熱之步驟。以此方式,可容易地將該端部份加熱至一所選溫度。
另一實施例包括藉由冷卻該開口裝置中經佈置與該熔體接觸之至少部份提供該溫度差之步驟。然後,相對於一對於該包裝容器部份與該端部份之間的密封係適合之溫度,選擇該熱塑性材料熔體之溫度。然後,將該開口裝置冷卻至一溫度,相對於該熱塑性材料熔體之溫度,該溫度適合於在該開口裝置與該包裝容器部份之間達成一合理之黏附。
一實施例包括藉由給內模部件提供用於在該開口裝置附近處提供冷卻之構件進行冷卻之步驟。以此一方式,可容易地將該開口裝置冷卻至一所選溫度。
另一進一步實施例包括藉由加熱該體之端部份及冷卻該開口裝置提供該溫度差之步驟。此係兩個先前所述實施例之組合,且若合意之情形係熱塑性材料具有一在該開口裝置之最適宜溫度與該包裝容器部份之最適宜溫度之間的溫度則此係適合。然後,可使用加熱及冷卻兩者。
其他實施例闡述於附屬請求項8-13中。
本發明進一步係關於一用於射出成型一熱塑性包裝容器部份之裝置,該包裝容器部份與一熱塑性開口裝置連接且與一包裝容器體之端部份連接,該體包括一至少呈外層形式之熱塑性材料。該裝置之特徵在於其進一步包括:一內模部件及外模部件,於該等部件之間形成一用於射出成型之腔,該腔經佈置以接納該體之至少該端部份及該開口裝置之至少一部份以使此等部份與該腔接觸;用於在該開口裝置與該端部份之間提供一溫度差以使該端部份達到一比該開口裝置之彼溫度高之溫度之構件;以及用於將一熱塑性材料熔體注射於該腔中之構件。
在一實施例中,該內模部件包括用於在該體之端部份中產生熱之構件。
一實施例之特徵在於用於產生熱之構件係一加熱器,其一表面經佈置壓靠在該端部份上或壓靠在該端部份附近之一區域上以加熱該端部份。此係一靈活且安全之解決方案,該解決方案可容易地執行於該包裝機中。若該包裝壓層包含鋁箔(此係常見,此乃因許多市售材料包括箔作為防氧障壁層之事實),儘管該部份定位於該腔中且不與任何表面接觸,但可使用該鋁箔將熱轉移至該端部份。若無任何導熱材料存在,則在將該端部份佈置於該腔內之前對其進行加熱。若使用呈一套筒形式之體及呈一心軸輪臂形式之內模部件(該套筒可旋入心軸輪臂上),該套筒可旋至一其中該臂中一加熱器加熱該端部份之第一位置,且隨後在該臂上進一步旋入該腔內。
圖1顯示一包裝容器之實例,其在下文中表示為10。該包裝容器10包括一呈包裝壓層套筒形式之體12及一呈薄壁頂部14形式之熱塑性包裝容器部份。頂部14佈置有一具有澆注開口(未顯示)之頸部。此澆注開口設置有一呈帽形式之開口裝置16,於此實施例中,該帽係一在其內側上具有螺紋之螺帽,該螺紋對應於該頸部外表面上之螺紋。
可製造成套筒12,此乃因一包裝壓層坯料的兩個縱向邊緣經佈置以形成一經密封之重疊接頭18。該包裝壓層可係若干種類型中之一者,但通常其包括一紙或紙板芯層及一個或若干個(例如)聚合物或鋁箔障壁層。在此實施例中,至少在該壓層中面對該包裝容器中心之側上,該壓層包括一熱塑性材料外層。較佳地,該材料係聚乙烯(PE)或聚丙烯(PP),但當然亦可使用其他熱塑性材料或其組合。
同樣地,該壓層包括一薄鋁箔19(參見圖2)。
最初,套筒12在其兩個軸端中呈打開狀態。使用本發明之方法將頂部14直接射出成型至該等端部中之一者之一端部份20上。
在射出成型期間,該套筒之第二端部22呈打開狀態。不對其進行密封直至已對包裝容器實施滅菌及產品填充為止。
如先前所述,頂部14係藉由射出成型所製造且包括至少一種呈基礎材料形式之材料,且亦可能一障壁材料(本文將不對其進行闡述)。較佳地,該基礎材料係一熱塑性材料。例如,可使用聚丙烯(PP)及聚乙烯(PE)。
作為介紹,將闡述一種實施射出成型之方式。圖2顯示呈模型工具形式的一內模部件及一外模部件24、26。內部工具24可係該包裝機中一心軸輪之臂28之端部,而外部工具26經佈置以朝向該內部工具向下壓且圍繞該內部工具及臂28之一部份。
當將內部及外部工具24、26組合在一起時,即在其之間形成一其中將形成頂部之腔30。工具24、26具有三種主要狀態。一第一打開狀態(未顯示),其中未將外部工具佈置成圍繞內部工具,而是其中將包裝壓層套筒12旋入至臂28上,且於此狀態中在套筒12上射出成型一頂部後即自臂28移除套筒12。套筒12係以一在將工具24、26組合在一起時端部份20將定位於該腔中之方式設置至內部工具24。圖2顯示一第二接近閉合狀態,其中外部工具26圍繞內部工具24,但其中內部工具與外部工具24、26之間的腔30具有一第一容積,其大於欲射出成型之頂部14之容積。在此狀態下,將一熱塑性材料熔體32注射至該腔中,但該熔體之容積並非與該腔之當前容積一樣大。在一第三狀態(未顯示)下,朝向內部工具24向下壓外部工具26直至自該腔中擠出所注射之熔體,並使其與套筒12之端部份20接觸。在壓縮後,腔30達到一第二較小容積,該容積實質上對應於薄壁頂部14之容積。外部工具及內部工具24、26經成形以便在第三狀態下該等工具不會抵達彼此之底端。而若需要,可進一步朝向內部工具24按壓外部工具26。此用於在打開工具24、26之前的固化及冷卻階段期間。雖然在冷卻期間包裝容器部份14收縮,但外部工具26將能夠繼續壓靠在該部份上,且藉助在部份14與外部工具26之間所維持之接觸,可獲得更有效之冷卻。
該頂部不僅射出成型至該套筒之端部份20上,且亦朝向一帽16。帽16與內部工具24一起在腔30之端部份34內形成一空間,該空間經佈置以在頂部14上形成一頸部。該頸部構成先前所述澆注開口之邊緣。在此實施例中,該澆注開口係形成於頂部14中經佈置距套筒12最遠之端部內。由此,將帽16置於內部工具24之外端上。自圖中可見,在頸部處,內部工具24具有一比帽16之內徑小之直徑,且該頸部將形成於內部工具24與該帽之內包絡表面之間。外部工具26將壓靠在帽16之外包絡表面上且部份地壓靠在帽16之圓形上表面上。該帽係使用習用射出成型預製造且以準備使用狀態供給包裝機。較佳地,該帽中之材料係聚乙烯(PE)或聚丙烯(PP)。當然,亦可使用其他熱塑性材料及其結合。
為將該套筒之端部份20佈置於外部工具與內部工具24、26之間的腔30中,存在一開口36,端部份20經佈置以延伸穿過該開口。在打開狀態下,套筒12以一端部份20將在臂28端部中延伸於內部工具上之方式佈置於臂28上。由此,當外部工具26圍繞內部工具24及臂28之一部份時,套筒12將被緊密固持,且其端部份20將定位於腔30內。
製備熱塑性熔體並藉助一適合裝置(例如一習知射出成型擠出機)將其注射於腔30中。在圖中,一具有參考編號38之方框指示該裝置。於外部工具26內,在裝置38與腔30之間設置一用於熱塑性材料熔體之入口通道40。在圖中,僅顯示一個通道40,但較佳給腔30設置多個通道。在入口通道40之周圍設置加熱器(未顯示),較佳為電加熱器,以確保不使通道中之熔體冷卻及固化,但保持熔融狀態。
所注射之材料量、注射點40之數量及位置以及接近閉合與閉合腔30之間的容積差必須彼此適應以使該材料能夠充分地流至頂部之幾何結構中。
內部工具24及外部工具26兩者皆設置有若干個冷卻通道(未顯示)以冷卻該等工具且由此包裝容器部份14。在該等通道中導入冷水,且在所述實施例中該等冷卻通道確保該等工具之溫度與室溫(亦即,約20℃)約相同。
在圖2中,內模工具24設置有一加熱器44(較佳為一電加熱器)以加熱套筒12。加熱器44經定位以使其接觸表面46佈置成與套筒12之內側接觸。加熱器44並非與套筒12之端部份20直接接觸,而是由於薄壓層中之鋁箔19,可獲得至端部份20之快速熱轉移,並加熱端部份20。較佳地,在將熔體32注射入腔30內之前即刻進行加熱。
在一實施例中,在將熱塑性材料熔體32注射入腔30中時,其具有一大體上在160℃-210℃區間內之溫度。模型工具24、26保持於約20℃之溫度下而帽16具有約相同之溫度。加熱器保持在一大體上在50℃-70℃區間內之溫度下。藉由鋁箔19之熱轉移將端部份20加熱至約相同之溫度,亦即,加熱至一大體上在50℃-70℃區間內之溫度。因此,在此實例中,帽16與套筒12之間的溫度差在30℃-50℃之範圍內。然而,應瞭解,本發明並非侷限於所述溫度。該溫度差需要適應於每一應用,且相依於多種因素,例如選擇的熱塑性材料熔體32溫度;材料之選擇;材料之厚度;加熱或冷卻裝置及其置放、循環時間之選擇;模型工具之溫度等。
在一替代實施例中,該包裝壓層亦包括一鋁箔19及一用於加熱套筒12之端部份20之電感器。在注射熔體32之前即刻提供一電脈動,且該脈動在鋁箔19中產生熱,從而亦加熱端部份20。該感應器之置放可與電加熱器44之置放相同。在一替代實施例中,該電感器置放於該套筒之外側上。在另一實施例中,該感應器(其置於該套筒之外側上)可與一設置在內模工具24表面內之金屬裝置協作。有利地,該金屬裝置經設置而部份地以一隔熱材料囊封,亦即,該金屬裝置插入處在一隔熱材料內之內模工具中。僅佈置成與該套筒接觸之表面無隔熱材料。該金屬裝置具有一比該套筒之鋁箔更大之厚度,且因此在暴露於電脈動時反應較慢,從而使其易於達成所選溫度。
在另一實施例中,該包裝壓層不包括鋁箔。然後,可藉由將端部份20佈置於一大體上在腔30外側之第一位置中以加熱其來達成對端部份20之加熱,且隨後將端部份20佈置於一其中可使該端部份定位於腔30內側之第二位置中。因此,可如圖2中所示置放加熱器44,但套筒12係旋入至內模工具24上一位置,其中端部份20與加熱器44處在一位階上。然後,直接對端部份20進行加熱,且在將熱塑性材料熔體注射至腔30內之前,即刻在一朝向腔30之方向上沿內模工具24進一步轉移套筒12以使端部份20穿過開口36並被帶至其在腔30內側之最終位置。
在另一實施例中,藉由熱空氣加熱端部份20。
另外,在其他實施例中,加熱器44或感應器可置於外模工具26中。其中最適合者相依於包裝壓層之結構,亦即,鋁層19及紙層之置放。紙導熱不佳,此使得與具有鋁箔之側相比對該壓層之彼側之加熱效率差。
在以上實施例中,已闡述如何對套筒12進行加熱。存在多個替代實施例,其中可藉助冷卻開口裝置16中經佈置與熔體32接觸之至少一部份來獲得溫度差。然後,給內模工具24提供用於在開口裝置16附近處提供冷卻之構件。該構件可構成冷卻水之通道。
在另一實施例中,可藉由結合對該套筒之端部份20之加熱及對開口裝置16之冷卻來獲得溫度差。然後,上述實施例之組合係可能。
顯而易見,本發明並非侷限於上述實施例。可在隨附申請專利範圍之範疇內進行若干變化及修改。
舉例而言,已闡述一種呈螺帽形式之開口裝置16。然而,顯而易見,可使用大量不同之開口裝置。舉例而言,該開口裝置可與圖3中所示種類之可折疊開口16'結合使用。該圖顯示根據本發明方法射出成型的一呈包裝壓層套筒12'形式之包裝容器體及一呈相對扁平頂部14'形式之包裝容器部份的多個視圖。該頂部係以先前闡述之相同方式射出成型於套筒12'之一端部份20'上。折疊開口16'包括一操作部份48及一密封部份50,此兩者以固定方式彼此連接,但在一樞軸點52的每一側上佈置一個。密封部份50具有一沿其圓周之接觸表面54,頂部14'即注射至該接觸表面。當打開開口裝置16'時,藉由抬起操作部份48以便向下按壓密封部份50並將其壓入該包裝容器中,從而在密封部份50原來所在處形成一澆注開口56。澆注開口56之邊緣沿一進入包裝容器之方向向外呈錐形以便可將密封部份50推入該包裝容器中。圍繞澆注開口56之區域可設置有一澆注槽58。當製造一具有此類型開口裝置之包裝容器部份時,該熱塑性材料在冷卻後之收縮可用於在密封部份50與包裝容器部份14'之間形成一顯著之緊密度。在射出成型後,包裝容器部份14'將圍繞密封部份50,此乃因其將壓靠在接觸表面54上。然後,當較佳地藉由主動冷卻使包裝容器部份14'冷卻時,該包裝容器部份將收縮,亦即,其將縮小。作為一結果,包裝容器部份14'將被按壓在接觸表面54上,亦即,包裝容器部份14'將產生一施加於密封部份50上之夾緊力。相應地,在先前所述之實施例中,可在包裝容器部份14之頸部與螺帽16之間形成顯著緊密度,此乃因螺帽16包括一凸緣部份60,該包裝容器部份之一肩部份62即形成至該凸緣部份。凸緣部份60及對應之肩部份62分別沿螺帽16之整個圓周及包裝容器部份14延伸。在注射期間,該包裝容器部份之熔體將與凸緣部份60接觸,而當該熔體開始冷卻及開始收縮時,該頸部之肩部份62將朝向該頸部之中心縮小,且因此該頸部將夾緊在螺帽16之凸緣部份60周圍。
本文已闡述之包裝容器部份具有一包裝容器頂部之形狀。然而,顯然該頂部之形狀可形成為另一類型之包裝容器部份,例如一側表面、一扁平頂部份、一蓋或類似部份。若該包裝容器部份具有一至少部份扁平頂部份之形狀,則該腔可具有一蓋,該蓋之一部份藉由射出成型密封至包裝容器部份且構成一鉸鏈。當該蓋樞轉時,即在該扁平頂部份中形成一澆注開口。此一實施例相對類似於先前所述之可折疊開口16'。
另外,已闡述一體係形成為一包裝壓層套筒,其包括一紙芯層。當然,該體可係除一套筒之外的其他物件,只要該體包括一熱塑性材料之包裝容器部份可射出成型至其端部份,則該體可具有任一形狀。同樣地,當然,該包裝壓層可具有除所述結構以外的其他結構。舉例而言,該壓層可包括一個或若干個熱塑性層,亦即,不包括紙或鋁箔。亦應瞭解,該裝置中所包含之部件(例如模型工具及入口通道)可經設計不同於已顯示之部件。

Claims (16)

- 一種用於射出成型一包裝容器部份(14、14')之裝置,該包裝容器部份與一熱塑性開口裝置(16、16')連接且與一包裝容器體(12、12')之一端部份(20、20')連接,該體包括一至少呈一外層形式之熱塑性材料,其特徵在於該裝置進一步包括一內模部件及一外模部件(24、26),一用於射出成型之腔(30)形成於其之間,該腔(30)經佈置以能夠接納該體(12、12')之至少該端部份(20、20')及該開口裝置(16、16')之至少一部份,以使此等部份與該腔(30)接觸,用於在該開口裝置(16、16')與該端部份(20、20')之間提供一溫度差以使該端部份(20、20')達到一比該開口裝置(16、16')之彼溫度高之溫度之構件,及用於將一熱塑性材料之熔體(32)注射至該腔(30)內之構件。
- 如請求項14之裝置,其特徵在於該內模部件(24)包括用 於在該體(12、12')之該端部份(20、20')中產生熱之構件。
- 如請求項15之裝置,其特徵在於用於產生熱之構件係一加熱器(44),其一表面(46)經佈置以壓靠在該端部份(20、20')上或壓靠在該端部份(20、20')附近處一區域上以加熱該端部份(20、20')。
