Abstract

A primary packaging for a surface-stabilized surgical dressing comprises a carrier layer (4), a contact surface with adhesive regions on the side nearer the skin which is protected, before the surgical dressing is used, by a detachable covering layer, and a supporting film which comprises at least one layer detachably applied to the surface of the carrier layer (4) farther from the skin and which can be removed from the surgical dressing after application. The supporting film (7) forms part of the protective packaging of the surgical dressing.

Technical field

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1. Field of the Invention The present invention relates to a primary package of flat stabilized dressing materials comprising a backing layer and a skin-contacting surface having self-adhesive areas which are protected by a tensile release liner and releasably disposed on the surface of the backing layer. a film which can be removed from the applied dressing material after fulfilling its surface stabilizing function of the carrier layer.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The dressing materials can be divided into two large groups. The first group comprises such dressing materials which are fixed at the point of application by additional devices or measures, while in the second group the fixation itself is followed by the self-adhesive area of the dressing material. In the latter group, the requirement for thin and flexible carrier layers that provide the necessary water vapor permeability and good adherence to the application site outlines encounters difficulties in application. For example, after the cover layer has been stripped off, for example, the edge scrolling easily results in the self-adhesive areas sticking together, making the dressing material unusable.

Here, an improvement could be achieved by the application of a so-called opaque film for surface stabilization (DE-OS 19 35 916), whereby a stronger layer is attached to the film with respect to the carrier layer so that it can be removed after application. This principle has so far been proven (cf. DE-A-33 44 334).

However, it is a drawback that the backing sheet is discarded after separation from the applied dressing material, and its function is limited to surface stabilization only. However, the cost of preparing the dressing material and the manufacturing arrangements for this additive element of such dressing material cannot, however, be described as irrelevant.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

Therefore, it is an object of the invention to extend the function of the backing sheet so that the cost / use ratio is more favorable.

According to the invention, the object has been solved by a correspondingly corresponding primary package in which the backing sheet is part of a package protecting the dressing material. For the purposes of the invention, primary packaging is understood to mean a protective layer wrapping immediately the dressing material, whereby the individually wrapped pieces can be packaged further by means of secondary and tertiary packaging into larger units. Self-protection of the substrate is also guaranteed primarily by primary packaging.

The invention is applicable to all dressing materials which are stabilized flat by means of a support film. These dressing materials are known and are used, for example, as wound dressings, fixative dressings, active substance dispensing patches and active substance dispensing films. The support layer of the dressing material may be, for example, a textile material, a polymer material or a metal. The backing sheet used is at least a single-layer sheet of polymers, paper or metal-containing materials such as aluminum. With respect to the surface extensibility, it has at least the same extensibility as the backing layer, but in a preferred embodiment of the invention it may extend over one or more sides over the edge of the backing layer. The opaque foil is fixed at least at a point by means of hot bonding to the backing layer. The releasable connection between the backing sheet and the backing layer can also be accomplished by other known techniques, such as welding, gluing, compression using a matrix, or the generation of electrostatic attraction forces. The releasable connection between the backing layer and the backing sheet may be a connection resulting directly from the manufacturing backing layer on the backing sheet. The backing sheet has an area at least as large as that of the backing layer.

Advantageously, the sheet forming the other parts of the package is fixed in the peripheral region to the support film.

The packaged dressing material comprises at least one active ingredient.

The packaged dressing material is a transdermal therapeutic system.

Materials for the production of self-adhesive skin contacting areas are selected from a wide range of options, while being physiologically harmless. The pull-release liner protects the skin contacting surface of the dressing material before use.

The meaning and purpose of the primary packaging of such dressing material is known to the skilled person. The present solution, consisting in placing the dressing material as a whole in a package surrounding it from all sides, which is then closed at all edges, for example by gluing, hot gluing, welding or die pressing, in accordance with the requirements, is not satisfactory material that is necessary for this purpose.

According to the invention, the surface of the primary package is formed by means of a support foil, on the top and bottom side of which a sheet forming the other part of the package is fixed.

The attachment can be carried out, for example, by hot bonding, welding, die pressing or gluing. If the surface of the backing sheet is the same as that of the backing layer, then the attachment of the other parts of the wrapping is performed on the top layer of the backing sheet. If the backing sheet extends over the backing layer, then it may be advantageous to mount on the underside of the overlapping backing sheet.

After the bag-like primary packaging has been torn, the backing sheet remains on the back of the backing layer, thereby ensuring the desired stabilization of the dressing material during application.

The attachment of the other sheet dressing material to the backing sheet and the production of a releasable connection between the backing sheet and the backing sheet can also be carried out in one step according to the invention.

The choice of other blanket packaging material is determined by the applicable requirements of the dressing material to be packaged, thereby not providing any generally valid data. Usually, for example, in addition to impermeable paper, polymers or metal-containing materials are suitable which, in terms of their structure, can be associated with textile sheets. The choice of material for the backing foil and other packaging need not be the same, it just needs to match the requirements.

The package may be provided with at least one tear means, such as tear fibers, tear lines, and the like.

In a particularly preferred embodiment of the invention, at least one active substance is present in the dressing material. This may be a transdermal therapeutic system which is necessarily packaged separately.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

As shown in FIG. 1, the backing layer 4 is formed of a textile material, overlaid with a self-adhesive layer which may contain a pharmacologically active substance and has on the side facing the skin a covering layer 6, which is here made of paper, which is siliconized to be non-sticky. The support film 7 extends beyond the support layer 4 on all sides and is formed from a multilayer film material that is rigid against the support layer 4. It is bonded to the carrier layer 4 by hot-gluing sites 8, distributed according to a predetermined pattern, whereby during hot-gluing a hot-glued edge 11 is formed with a backing foil 10.

In FIG. 2 is another preferred embodiment of the invention in which the backing sheet 7 has the same size as the backing layer 4. The wrapping sheet 10 surrounds the dressing material and is glued to it at the edges of the top side of the backing sheet 7. The self-adhesive layer 5 here has no separate cover layer 6, but the packaging film 10 here assumes the function of the opaque layer. The dressing material can be applied immediately after opening the package.

Hereinafter, one preferred embodiment of the dressing material according to the invention is described by way of example.

Example 1

Manufacture of packaged dressing material in which part of the packaging acts as a backing sheet.

A dressing material of 15 x 20 cm ² , consisting of a textile backing layer 4 and an active substance-containing self-adhesive layer 5 arranged thereon, is arranged coaxially between the heat-sealable sections of the dressing material and overlapping about 1.5 cm on each side . The dressing material is selected so that the section in contact with the backing layer 4 can take on the role of the backing sheet 7. In one or two successive steps, the hot-gluing of the edges and the releasable bonding of the backing sheet 7 to the backing layer 4 are then performed. The finished bag is then assembled in the usual way by hot-sealing the edges.

PATENT CLAIMS A primary package of flat stabilized dressing material comprising a backing layer and contact surfaces having a self-adhesive area on the skin side which is protected by a tensile release liner prior to use of the dressing and at least a single-layer backing sheet disposed on the backing surface of the backing layer; which is separable from the applied bandage material, characterized in that the support film (7) is part of the wrapping (10) protecting the bandage material. The primary package of a flat stabilized dressing material according to claim 1, characterized in that the support layer (4) of the dressing material is a textile material, a polymer material or a layer comprising a metal, for example aluminum. Primary packaging according to claims 1 and 2, characterized in that the support foil (7) is at least a single-layer sheet of polymer, paper or metal-containing materials, for example aluminum. The primary packaging according to claim 3, characterized in that the support foil (7) is fixed at least at a point by means of hot-sealing to the support layer (4). Primary packaging according to one of Claims 1 to 3, characterized in that the releasable connection between the carrier layer (4) and the support foil (7) is formed by at least partially gluing, mechanical or electrostatic anchoring or a weld joint. Primary packaging according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the support foil (7) has an area at least as large as that of the support layer (4). A primary package according to one or more of the preceding claims, characterized in that the sheet formation which forms the other parts of the package is fixed in the peripheral region to the support film (7). Primary packaging according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the wrapped dressing material has at least one active substance. Primary packaging according to one of the preceding claims, characterized in that the wrapped dressing material is a transdermal therapeutic system.
