Abstract

PROCESSES FOR PRODUCTION OF PHOSPHORUS PENTAFLUORIDE AND HEXAFLUOROPEOSPHATES Abstract 5 A process for producing high-quality phosphorus pentafluoride from an inexpensive low-quality raw material with production cost control; and a process for production of hexafluoro- phosphates. The process for 10 production of phosphorus pentafluoride is characterized in that phosphorus pentafluoride is separated by bringing a carrier gas into contact with a raw material composition containing phosphorus atoms and fluorine atoms as the essentials and thus making phosphorus 15 pentafluoride extracted into the carrier gas. The process for production of hexafluorophosphates is characterized by reacting phosphorus pentafluoride obtained by the above process for the production of phosphorus pentafluoride with a fluoride according to 20 the following reaction formula to form a hexaf luorophosphate: sPF 5 + AF S A(PF ) 6 S [wherein 1 < s ^ 3; and A is at least one selected from the group consisting of Li, Na, K, Rb, Cs, NH , 4 Ag, Mg, Ca, Ba, Zn, Cu, Pb, Al and Fe. 25 (Fig. 1) 79
