Abstract

The vehicle comprises sections (3, 4), axes (6, 6', 7) and centre joint (5) arranged centre-symmetrically. The vehicle is fully operational in both directions of travel by means of driver's cabins (12, 12') at both ends of the vehicle. All axles (6, 6', 7) are steerable; the outer axes (6, 6') are driving axes. Lateral-guidance rollers 13 are mounted near the outer axes (6, 6') and interact with runners (28, 28') along the roadway. The axes (6, 6') can be optionally manually steered in each case from the nearest driver's cabin. All vehicle axes can be blocked in the straight-ahead position. The centre axle (7) is coincident with the joint (5) and is non-rotatably coupled to vehicle sections (3). Selection of the direction of travel automatically blocks or allows steering of the axes; for example, the wheels of the centre axle (7) are steerable only if the single-axle vehicle section (4) is leading, as in Fig. 5. <IMAGE>
