Abstract

The thread 31 is fed tangentially to a rotated storage roll 10 of a thread store 1, while being taken off the roll against the action of a retaining element through a thread guide 4 arranged in prolongation of roll axis 122. The retaining element 14 is formed by a rotatable thread retaining ring which has a thread retaining device 141 which is open radially outwards. The storage roll 10 and the retaining ring 14 have a respective hysteresis discs 105, 143 between which a permanent magnet 150 is arranged on a common drive shaft 12. The thread guide 4 has two separable thread guide members 40, 41 and can bring thread 31 from course 32 to cross the path of the rotating thread retaining device 141. <IMAGE>
