Abstract

The trailer hitch comprises a coupling head (10) with a hollow drawbar (32), an attachment flange (34) which is clamped in between a shoulder (36) of the coupling head (10) and a tensioning nut (38) on the drawbar (32), a slide rod (26) which is guided in the hollow drawbar (32) and has a coupling head-side contact body (24) which rests, in a play-compensating fashion, on a coupling ring (14) which is connected into the coupling head (10), a play-compensation spring (66) which prestresses the slide rod (26) in the direction of the coupling ring (14), and a hydraulic support device (48) for supporting the drawbar (32) against pressure exerted on the contact body (24), with a support piston (56) which acts on the one hand on the slide rod (26) and is acted on on the other hand by the play-compensation spring (66). In order to use a longer play-compensation spring (66), the support piston (56) has a hollow piston extension (58) which projects into the hollow drawbar (32) as far as the region of the tensioning nut (38), the said hollow piston extension (58) receiving at least part of the play-compensation spring (66). <IMAGE>
