Abstract
In a plant for compressing a gas, for example refrigerant, oil is supplied by a conduit 12 to bearings 10 (or other parts) of a compressor 1, and the compressed gas and oil mixed therewith are supplied to a first oil separator 17 from which the oil is fed through a throttling device 20 to a second, lower pressure separator 21. Oil from the separator 21 is mixed with oil collected directly from the compressor to be supplied back to the bearing via a pump 14, cooler 15, filter 16, and the conduit 12. The gas from separator 21 is fed back to the compressor into a working chamber 23 at a pressure intermediate the inlet and outlet pressures and lower than the pressure of separator 21. <IMAGE>
