Abstract

1500498 Forming tanks BURNETT & ROLFE Ltd 9 Sept 1975 [19 Sept 1974] 40903/74 Heading E1T A tank is formed from prefabricated metal segments 15 by lifting at least the upper section 8 and securing a lower section thereto and then raising the jack 6 and support tower 5 from the already completed tank parts and joining a further section 16 of the support tower to the raised tower part. The tank is then raised on the tower with its further section 16 and the sequence of operations repeated. Additional tank strakes may be fitted at ground level or with heavier tanks or tanks of greater width than height only the top and first strake is lifted. The segments may be stainless steel welded together. Wheeled. outriggers around the jacking tower maintain the concentricity of the tank. The tower is removed from the tank through an omitted panel in the final strake.
