The B may be removed by heating the coated substrate at 800- 1250‹C in a halogenated reducing atmosphere e.g. packed with Cr and chromium fluoride powder with NH4 and heated in H2 + A, or packed with Al 2 O 3 or MgO and Ni or Co and NH 4 Cl, NH 4 F or chromium fluoride. After B elimination an outer casing is formed by packing in Cr-Al powder and NH 4 Cl optionally with Al 2 O 3 and heating in a reducing atmosphere. Prior to eliminating B, the coated substrate may be coated with Pt or Pd.
