Abstract

Screening apparatus comprises a frame, a pair of spaced tracks 17, 18 Fig. 3, and a screening grate 1 movable on the tracks from a loading to a tipping position by the action of a predetermined weight of material on the grate, and thereafter movable to the loading position. The tracks slope upwardly from the loading position to the tipping position. A further pair of spaced tracks 15 extends from the loading to the tipping position below the first-mentioned tracks. The screening grate has a forward pair of wheels 14 running on the further tracks and a rear pair 16 running on the first tracks. When the gate is unloaded it presses on the horizontal track 15 and presses the rear wheels on the tracks 18 so that it moves into the loading position. When loaded the wheels 16 press up against the tracks 17 and the grate moves forward and tips as in Fig. 3. The wheels and tracks may be arranged in the same vertical plane at one side of the apparatus.
