A ease comprises a sheet of material 1 formed with at least one depressed recess 2 for receiving one or more articles, e.g. a clinical sample container 3, guides overlying sheet 1 to form a slot for receiving a card 5, bearing information concerning the clinical sample and closing the open side of the recess, and stops for engaging and retaining the inserted card. As shown, in the closed position of the case, the card 5 lies beneath three flanges 4, turned over from the sheet 1, and the stops are formed by two lugs 6, struck from sheet 1. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the flanges 4 are replaced by a separate sheet of material which overlies sheet 1 and is secured thereto along three of its four edges. The separate sheet may be transparent and is formed with an aperture, which overlies the recess formed in sheet 1. The card is inserted between the two sheets and held in position to close the open side of the recess by stops in the form of tabs (11), which are cut from sheet 1 and may be snapped past adjacent edges of the separate sheet. The recesses in the sheets 1 may be tapered towards their bottoms so that a number of the sheets 1 may be stacked.
