Abstract
Se describe un proceso para tostar concentrado de metal. Las particulas de concentrado se alimentan a un tostador donde se tratan termicamente a una temperatura en el rango de 500 y 1200° C en un lecho fluidizado para formar una calcina. Por lo menos partes de la calcina se extraen del tostador junto con una corriente de gas como una fraccion solida. Las particulas de concentrado con un diametro de por lo menos un 50% mas pequeno que el diametro promedio de las particulas de concentrado se separan como particulas pequenas y/o porque las particulas de la fraccion de gas-solido se separan en por lo menos una etapa como pequenas particulas de calcina y/o porque las particulas se obtienen en otra etapa hidrometalurgica como otras particulas. Las particulas pequenas y/o por lo menos parte de las pequenas particulas de calcina y/o por lo menos partes de las otras particulas se peletizan, por lo que por lo menos el 80% de los granulos presentan un diametro de por lo menos el 80% del diametro promedio de las particulas de concentrado. Los granulos se alimentan en el tostador.
