Abstract

En avløpsgass bringes i kontakt med en hydrolyseringskatalysator for omdannelse av COS og CStil HS i en enhet (1) og alternativt, i nærvær av en luftstrøm, med en HS-oksidasjonskatalysator for å gi en hydrolysert gass (17) inneholdende HS og S0, men intet COS eller CS, mens volumkonsentrasjonene av (HS) og (S0) i gassen (17) kontrolleres på en slik måte at (HS)-2(S0) er større enn 0,2%, men ikke over-skrider 0,5 %. Gassen (17) fares inn i en Claus-enhet (3a) hvori HS og S0reagerer for å gi svovel og pro-duserer en i det vesentlige renset gass (25a) inneholdende HS som den eneste svovelforbindelse. Gassen (25a) injiseres ved 80-100°C med overskuddsluft inn i den katalytiske enhet (4a) hvori HS totalt oksideres til svovel. Svovelforbindelsene i avløpsgassen gjenvin-nes praktisk talt alle i form av svovel.
