Abstract

Fremgangsmåte for å påvise tilstedeværelsen av spongiform encefalopati i et dyr omfattende bestemmelse av tilstede- værelsen og/eller mengden av et middel (f.eks. ved anvendelse av 2DPAGE etterfulgt av farging og densitometriavlesninger av det fargede middel) i et kroppsfluid (f.eks. cerebrospinal- fluid) fra et testdyr, som kryssreagerer med antistoff dannet mot apolipoprotein E, og som har en molekylvekt mellom 34 og 38 kDa og en pl mellom 5,4 og 5,7, sammenligne konsentra- sjonen med en kontrollverdi og korrelere sammenhengen mellom de to med den sannsynligvise tilstedeværelse av spongiform encefalopati i dyret.
