En informasjonsbærer (2) med minst et bøyningsmønster som er dannet av mikroskopisk fine relieffstrukturer (9) og som ved belysning med koherent lys (10) i to romlig adskilte retninger genererer et første og et annet bilde av et objekt. Bildene kan gjøres synlig på en skjerm eller analyseres ved hjelp av fotodetektorer. De to bilder har lyssterke og/eller forholdsvis lyssvake bildepunkter og har en symmetri ved at et lyssterkt bildepunkt i det første bilde kan tilordnes et lyssvakt bildepunkt i det annet bilde og omvendt. Slike informasjonsbærere (2) egner seg som sikkerhetselementer for dokumenter av alle slag, f eks. pengesedler, pass, identitetskort, kredittkort etc, idet minst en del av sikkerhetsinformasjonen under inkoherente belysningsforhold ikke er synlig.
