Optisk aktive tetrahydrofuran-2-karboksylsyreestere med en mesogen molekylbyggsten egner seg som doseringsmid-del i flytendekrystallblandinger.De fører til flytendekrystallinske ferroelektri ske faser med korte omskjaltingstider og til elektrokline faser med høye elektrokline koeffisienter.En ytterligere fordel ligger deri, at de induserer en heliks med meget lav gjengehøyde, slik at de også er egnet for helikskompensering i LC-blandinger.Forbindelsene symboliseres ved den generelle formel. der R betyr alkyl eller alkenyl eller tetrahydrofurankar-bonyloksy eller -tio; 3, 1, n - null, 1 eller 2; k, m - null eller 1; -, -, -- fenyler, cykloalkyler eller tilsvarende N-, 0- eller S-holdige heterocykler; -, -- broer som -CO-0, -0CHeller -CH-CH; og X er 0 eller S.
