Description
Oppfinnelsen vedrører tennforbedrer for alkoholiske drivstoffer og alkoholiske kraftstoffblandinger, som kan anvendes for drift av dieselmotorer.
Metanol og etanol kan ikke anvendes i stedet for de miner-alske hydrokarboner i dieselmotorer av vanlig bygningstype, da cetantallet av etanol og metanol bare utgjør 8 resp. 3. Dieselmotorer krever imidlertid for feilfri drift et drivstoff med et cetantall på minst 45 (DIN 51 601, Winn-acker-Kuchler, Chemische Technologie, bind 3/1, 326 (1971)).
Til økning av cetantallet er der derfor nødvendig med tennforbedrere. For drivstoffer på basis av metanol og etanol er alkyl- og cykloalkylnitrater kjent (DE-OS
2 701 588, DE-OS 20 39 609, Mineralogie Technik 80, 25
(4), 1-12), hvis fremstilling imidlertid er omstendelig og som kan hydrolysere i nærvær av vann. Herved oppstår salpetersyre, som ødelegger motorene på grunn av korrosjon. Også sålpetersyresalter av primære, sekundære og tertiære aminer, somf.eks. mono-, di- og trietylammoniumnitrat er kjent som tennforbedrere for metanol og etanol (DE-OS 29 09 565), imidlertid har også de korrosive egen-skaper.
Fra EP-A 0071134 er det kjent tennforbedrere for alkoholiske drivstoffer som inneholder salpetersyreestere av mono- og/eller polysakkarider, f.eks. nitrocellulose.
Ved anvendelsen av disse tennforbedrere i motorenes kraft-stofførende deler danner det seg imidlertid filmer av nitrocellulose på veggene, som kan føre til faste, tilstoppende virkende residuer. Denne ulempe lar seg ikke tilfredstillende løse ved tilsetning av ytterligere oppløsningsmidler.
Ved anvendelsen av drivstoffer på alkoholbasis med de
i EP-A 007 1134 åpenbarte tennforbedrere opptrer det dessuten problemer, når de kommer i kontakt med vanlige
drivstoffer på mineraloljebasis. På grunn av den dårligere oppløselighet av disse tennforbedrere i mineralolje opptrer utfellinger av tennforbedreren som likeledes fører til en tilstopping av motoren.
For anvendelse i praksis er kompatibiliteten av drivstoffer på mineraloljebasis og alkoholbasis imidlertid spesielt viktig.
Det ble funnet tennforbedrere for alkoholiske drivstoffer for forbrenningskraftmaskiner som inneholder nitrocellulose med et nitrogeninnhold på 9-14% og polyeter med minst tre etylenoksydenheter.
Tennforbedrene ifølge oppfinnelsen etterlater ved anvendelsen i motoren ingen residuer som fører til tilstopp-inger. De er helt kompatible overfor drivstoffer på mineraloljebasis.
For tennforbedrene ifølge oppfinnelsen kan det anvendes nitrocellulose med et nitrogeninnhold på 9-14%, fortrinnsvis på 10-13%.
Spesielt foretrukket er nitrocelluloser som øker visko-siteten av det alkoholiske drivstoff i minst mulig grad. Det anvendes derfor ifølge oppfinnelsen nitrocelluloser med en egenviskositet k på mindre enn 1000, fortrinnsvis på 800-200, spesielt fordelaktige.Egenviskositeten av nitrocellulosen kan bestemmes på i og for seg kjent måte (Fikentscher, Cellulosechemie 13, 58 (1932)).
Fremstillingen av nitrocellulosen for tennforbedrene ifølge oppfinnelsen er i og for seg kjent (K. Fabel, Nitrocellulose - Herstellung undEigenschaften, Enke Verlag, Stuttgart (1950)). De kan eksempelvis fremstilles, idet de omsettes i homogen og/eller heterogen fase med salpetersyre eller dets anhydrid i nærvær av vanntiltrekkende midler som svovelsyre, fosforsyre, fosfor-pentoksyd eller eddiksyreanhydrid.Nitreringsgraden kan styres etter ønske ved mengden og konsentrasjonen av sal-petersyren resp. de vanntiltrekkende tilsetninger.
For tennforbedrene ifølge oppfinnelsen anvendes polyetere med minst tre etylenoksydenheter, fortrinnsvis 4-100 etylenoksydenheter. Ifølge oppfinnelsen foretrekkes' polyetere som fremstilles ved omsetning av forbindelser som minst har en OH- og/eller NH-gruppe med etylenoksyd på i og for seg kjent måte. Det er selvsagt mulig og eventuelt også teknisk hensiktsmessig å anvende polyetere med forskjellige etoksyleringsgrader og forskjellige OH- og NH-forbindelser. Polyeterene kan foruten etylen-oksydenhetene ifølge oppfinnelsen også inneholde ytterligere alkylenoksydenheter, fortrinnsvis 0,1-0,5 propylen-oksydenheter, referert til en etylenoksydenhet.
Som forbindelser som har en OH-gruppe skal det fortrinnsvis nevnes forbindelser med formel

R betyr hydrogen eller eventuelt med hydroksy eller
amino substituert alkyl.
Som forbindelser som har en NH-gruppe, skal det fortrinnsvis nevnes forbindelser med formel
hvori
R 2 og R 3 er like eller forskjellige og betyr hydrogen eller eventuelt med hydroksy eller amino substituert alkyl.
Alkyl betyr her generelt en rettlinjet eller forgrenet hydrokarbonrest med 1-6 karbonatomer. Eksempelvis skal det nevnes følgende alkylrester: metyl, etyl, propyl, isopropyl, butyl, isobutyl, pentyl, isopentyl, heksyl og isoheksyl.
For det tilfellet at forbindelsene med minst en OH- eller NH-gruppe er substituert ved ytterligere hydroksyamino-grupper, foretrekkes forbindelser med 1-5, fortrinnsvis 1 eller 2, hydroksy og/eller aminogrupper.
Eksempler for forbindelse med en OH- og/eller NH-gruppe
er vann, mono- og polyoler som metanol, etanol, propanol, butanol, amylalkohol, etylenglykol, propylenglykol, gly-cerol, trimetylolpropan, pentaerytrit og nitrogenholdige forbindelser som ammoniakk, etanolamin, trietanolamin og dimetyletanolamin. Som startmolekyler for etylen-oksydtilleiringen er det også anvendbart blandinger av disse forbindelser. Spesielt foretrukket som startere er vann og lavere mono- og polyoler.
Konsentratene inneholder vanligvis 15-6 0 vektdeler av nitrocellulose og 20-70 vektdeler polyeter. Fortrinnsvis inneholder tennforbedrene ifølge oppfinnelsen 20-50 vektdeler av nitrocellulose og 30-60 vektdeler av polyeter.
Selvsagt kan tennforbedrene ifølge oppfinnelsen dessuten inneholde andre i og for seg kjente tilsetninger.
Spesielt å nevne er her medanvendelsen av ytterligere
i og for seg kjente tennforbedrere samt tilsetningen av komponenter som er egnet for en dieselmotorisk for-brenning, som f.eks. proppylenoksydpolyeter, fettalkoholer, fettsyreestere, dieseloljer og planteoljer som soya-, rizinus- eller talgolje. Tilsetningen av detergentier og starthjelpere er likeledes mulig.
Drivstoffer som inneholder tennforbedrene ifølge oppfinnelsen kan fremstilles direkte av enkeltkomponentene, dvs. nitrocellulose, polyeter og alkohol. Foretrukket er imidlertid fremstillingen av et konsentrat bestående av disse komponenter som deretter er å fortynne så vidt med alkohol at konsentrasjonen av tennforbedreren ifølge oppfinnelsen sikrer den uklanderlige gang av en motor.
Tennforbedrene ifølge oppfinnelsen kan anvendes som tilsetning til alkoholiske kraftstoffer.
Oppfinnelsens gjenstand er også kraftstoffblandinger som inneholder alkoholer og en tennforbedrer som inneholder nitrocellulose med et nitrogeninnhold på 9-14%, og en polyeter med minst tre etylenoksydenheter. Kraftstoff-blandingene ifølge oppfinnelsen er egnet for drift av dieselmotorer, spesielt kjøretøydieselmotorer, og slike som stiller tilsvarende krav til driftstoffet.
Alkohol er ifølge oppfinnelsen en lavere alifatisk alkohol med 1-6 karbonatomer. Spesielt foretrukket er metanol og/eller etanol. Alkoholene kan eventuelt inneholde inntil 10 vekt-% vann. Således kan det eksempelvis anvendes etanol som fremstilles ved gjæring og der-ved fremkommer som azeotrop med 4,5% vann.
Konsentrasjonen av nitrocellulosen i drivstoffblandingen ifølge oppfinnelsen er avhengig av cetantallet som skal oppnås. For en forstyrrelsesfri drift i en vanlig dieselmotor er det foretrukket konsentrasjoner på
2-12 vekt-%, fortrinnsvis 4-8 vekt-%.
Konsentrasjonen av polyeteren i kraftstoffblandingen ifølge oppfinnelsen retter seg etter konsentrasjonen av nitrocellulosen, dens k-verdi og ønskede konsistens av residuet etter flyktiggjøring av alkoholen. Ved kraft-stoffblandingene ved drivstoffblandingen ifølge oppfinn- eisen skal forholdet mellom nitrocellulose og polyeter ut-gjøre fra 1:0,2 til 1:2,0. Fortrinnsvis utgjør det 1:0,5 til 1:1,5, spesielt foretrukket 1:0,8 til 1:1,2.
Man anvender vanligvis 3-20 vektdeler, fortrinnsvis 6-15 vektdeler av tennforbedreren ifølge oppfinnelsen referert til alkoholen.
Anvendelsen av polyetere med minst tre etylenoksydenheter er spesielt fordelaktig, da disse produkter samtidig også tjener som flegmatiseringsmiddel for nitrocellulosen. Således kan nitrocellulosen med en gang etter fremstillingen blandes med polyeterene og det er således utelukket at det under transporten av nitrocellulosen som skal anvendes som tennforbedrer eller etter fordampning av alkoholkomponentene kommer til en forpuffing eller eksplo-sjon. Et ytterligere fordelaktig aspekt av medanvendelsen av etylenoksydpolyetere er deres smørevirkning som er spesielt viktig, da lavere alkoholer i motsetning til vanlig dieselolje ikke har noen selvsmørende virkning.
Det er spesielt overraskende at bare etylenoksydpolyetere med minst tre etylenoksydenheter fordelaktig kan anvendes i tennforbedrere, da lavere likeledes ved værelsestemperatur ikke flyktige homologer av denne forbindelsesklasse, som f.eks. etylenglykol eller dietylenglykol, ikke er egnet, når de anvendes sammenlignbart. Overraskende er også det faktum at de med etylenoksydpolyeterene struktur-elt snevert beslektede propylenoksydpolyetere ikke under-trykker filmdannelsestendensen ved vektmessig ekvivalent anvendelse, også når de har tre eller flere propylenoksyd-enheter. Også de for nitrocellulosen i lakkområdet anvendte mykningsmidler som f.eks. ftalsyreester av butanol og 2-etylheksanol viser likeledes en dårlig virkning.

Fremstilling_av_en_drivstoffblanding_på_basis_etanol Uti ø^else^f orm_A_-_d^r^kte_f rems tilling 8 deler av en handelsvanlig nitrocellulose (nitrogeninnhold mellom 10,0 og 11,5, k-verdi = 400) og 12,5 deler av en homolog blanding av en på vann startet etylenoksydpolyeter med 4-13 etylenoksydenheter omrøres med 80 deler 96%-ig etanol i 15 minutter ved værelsestemperatur. Ma får en klar fargeløs oppløsning.

24 deler av nitrocellulose og 37,5 deler av polyeteren fra utførelsesform A omrøres med 38 deler 96%-ig etanol inntil oppnåelse av en klar, gulaktig oppløsning. Konsentratet har ved 25°C en viskositet på 4000 cp. For å oppnå den i utførelsesform A omtalte blanding må en del av konsentratet fortynnes med to deler etanol. Et konsentrat som må fortynnes med tre deler etanol for å
komme til blandingen av utførelsesform A, fremstilles av 32 deler nitrocellulose, 50 deler polyeter og 18 deler etanol. Den har ved 25°C en viskositet på 60.000 cp.

8 deler av en handelsvanlig nitrocellulose (nitrogeninnhold mellom 10,0 og 11,5%, k-verdi 450) omrøres med 12 deler av en på trimetylolpropan startet etylenoksydpolyetere av en molekylvekt på 700 og 80 deler metanol i 15 minutter ved værelsestemperatur. Man får en klar fargeløs oppløsning.

En alkoholisk oppløsning, hvor forholdet av den i eksempel
1 anvendte nitrocellulose til anvendt hjelpestoff utgjør 1:1,5, strykes på en glassplate. Man lar alkoholen for-dampe fullstendig og undersøker residuet på dets konsistens.
Eksemplene viser at bare ved anvendelse av etylenoksydpoly-eteren som anvendes ifølge oppfinnelsen med minst tre etylenoksydenheter, har de gjenblivende residuer karakter av en høyviskos væske med delvis dessuten snørende virkning.
Alle andre stoffer bevirker ved vektmessig ekvivalent anvendelse residuer som etter fordampning av drivstoffet ved bevegelige deler, f.eks. i innsprøytningspumpene, ville frembringe forstyrrelser.

I en dieselmotor med direkte innsprøytning anvendes den
i eksempel 1 omtalte drivstoffblanding, idet tilsvarende blandingens mindre varmeverdi innsprøytes i forhold til vanlig dieséldrivstoff 1,4-ganger mengden. Man får en god driftevne av dieselmotoren med et til vanlig diesél-drivstof f identisk tennforsinkelse. Driftevnen av motoren er dessuten også gitt, når nitrocellulosens kon-sentrasjon nedsettes til 6%.

I en forkammerdieselmotor .anvendes den i eksempel 2 omtalte drivstoffblanding, idet tilsvarende blandingens mindre varmeverdi innsprøytes den dobbelte mengde drivstoff. Man får en god driftsevne av dieselmotoren med et til konvensjonell dieséldrivstoffer identisk tennforsinkelse. Driftevnen av motoren er også gitt når konsentrasjonen av nitrocellulosen nedsettes til 5%.

En drivstoffblanding bestående av 6 deler av en nitrocellulose av en k-verdi på 460, 6 deler av en homolog-blanding av en på vann startet etylenoksydpolyeter med gjennomsnittlig 8 etylenoksydenheter og 88 deler metanol anvendes i en direkte innsprøytende dieselmotor, idet tilsvarende den mindre varmeverdi av blandingen den dobbelte mengde drivstoff anvendes sammenlignet til dieséldrivstoff på mineraloljebasis. Man får i alle dreietallområder en god driftevne, idet tennforsinkel-sen av blandingen ifølge oppfinnelsen er identisk med denne for et vanlig dieséldrivstoff av et cetantall på 51.

Like deler av den i eksempel 1 omtalte drivstoffblanding og av konvensjonelt dieséldrivstoff omdannes under inn-virkning av skjærekrefter til en emulsjon. Emulsjonen adskiller seg i løpet av 1 time under dannelse av utgangs-fåsene. Uklarheter eller utfellinger iakttas ikke.
Claims (9)
1. Tennforbedrere for alkoholiske drivstoffer for forbrenningskraftmaskiner inneholdende nitrocellulose med et nitrogeninnhold på 9-14% og polyeter med minst tre etylenoksydenheter.
2. Tennforbedrere ifølge krav 1, karakterisert ved at nitrocellulosen har en egenviskositet k på < 1000.
3. Tennforbedrere ifølge kravene 1 og 2, karakterisert ved at nitrocellulosen har en egenviskositet i området på 800-200.
4. Tennforbedrere ifølge kravene 1-3, karakterisert ved at polyeteren har 4-100 etylenoksydenheter.
5. Tennforbedrere ifølge krav 1-4, karakterisert ved at den anvendes som konsentrat med 15-60 vektdeler nitrocellulose og 20-70 vektdeler av polyeter.
6. Anvendelse av en tennforbedrer, som inneholder nitrocellulose med et nitrogeninnhold på 9-14% og polyeter med minst tre etylenoksydenheter som tilsetning til alkoholiske drivstoffer.
7. Kraftstoffblanding eller drivstoffblanding, karakterisert ved at den inneholder alkohol og en tennforbedrer som består av nitrocellulose med et nitrogeninnhold på 9-14% og polyeter med minst tre etylenoksydenheter.
8. Kraftstoffblanding ifølge krav 7, karakterisert ved at den inneholder 3-20 vektdeler av tennforbedreren referert til alkohol..
9. Anvendelse av en kraft- eller drivstoffblanding ifølge krav 7 og 8 for drift av dieselmotorer.
