Abstract
Det er tilveiebrakt systemer og fremgangsmåter for å benytte ett eller flere mellomliggende mål i forbindelse med datagrafikk i et datasystem. I henhold til forskjellige utførelsesformer er det tilveiebrakt og blir utnyttet mellomliggende bufferlagre i et videominne for å muliggjøre seriemessige programmer fra grafikk-API'er til å understøtte algoritmer som overskrider instruksjonsgrensene til prosedyreorienterte skyggeleggere for enkelte programmer. De mellomliggende bufferlagre kan også gjøre det mulig å dele data mellom programmer for andre formål, og er enkeltvis tilgjengelige. Størrelsen av bufferlagrene, d.v.s. den mengde data som er lagret i de mellomliggende mål, kan innstilles variabelt for en variabel oppløsningsstørrelse med hensyn til grafikkdataene. I denne forbindelse genererer et enkelt program mellomliggende data som så kan brukes eller gjenbrukes av en utvidelse av det samme program og/eller et hvilket som helst antall andre programmer et hvilket som helst antall ganger etter behov, noe som gir betydelig fleksibilitet og kompleksitet ved skyggeleggingsprogrammer, samtidig som hastigheten til moderne grafikkbrikker opprettholdes.
