Abstract

En fremgangsmåte og anordning for å utføre vår seismiske undersøkelse som innbefatter å generere en seismisk hendelse; anvende den seismiske hendelsen til jordens overflate; detektere en respons til hendelsen, anvende et interferometer, der det er relativ bevegelse mellom jordens overflate og interferometeret der den detekterte responsen inkluderer P-bølger og S-bølger på jordens overflate; og analysere den detekterte responsen; der: deteksjonstrinnet innbefatter overvåking og registrering av responsen til den seismiske hendelsen i form av partikkelbevegelser på jordens overflate fra en posisjon med avstand fra jordens overflate, der deteksjonstrinnet utføres i løpet av en responsperiode, der responsperioden er en forhåndsbestemt tidsperiode etter den seismiske hendelsen; og analysetrinnet innbefatter å analysere partikkelbevegelsene på jordens overflate i den registrerte responsen til den seismiske hendelsen i løpet av responsperioden; den nevnte relative bevegelsen har en totalhastighet V, som inkluderer en transversal eller tverrkomponent Vog en langsgående komponent Vi; operasjonen til interferometeret inkluderer å: rette en objektstråle av koherent lys til et målested på jordens overflate, der det er en relativ bevegelse mellom overflaten og målestedet; arrangere en detektorgruppe på interferometeret på en rad som vanligvis strekker seg i transversal retning, der detektorene er arrangert for å detektere lysstråler med forskjellige vinkelretninger, som representerer forskjellige sensitivitetsretninger; frembringe en referansestråle av koherent lys, som er i det minste delvis koherent med objektstrålen; kombinere referansestrålen med den reflekterte objektstrålen fra overflaten til å frembringe en kryssinterferens i prikkmønsteret (speckle pattern) for å fremskaffe informasjon om den relative bevegelsen til overflaten og interferometeret; detektere prikkmønsteret og kryssinterferensmønsteret med detektorene; bestemme hvilken detektor i gruppen som har null eller minimum sensitivitet overfor den totale bevegelseshastigheten V, og derigjennom identifisere detektoren med en sensitivitetsretningslinje som er normal på V; overvåke tidsendringen i den av detektorene som har null eller minimum sensitivitet, og derigjennom konstatere retningsendringen av Vover tid, frembrakt ved endringer i Vi; og bestemme tidsendringer i Vi.
