Abstract

En forbedret sigma-delta modulator er beskrevet. Sigma-delta modulatoren (100) bruker mikroelektromekanisk system (MEMS) teknologi koblet med på-brikke LC nettverk (1 10, Il 8). MEMS brytere er brukt til å koble kondensatorer og induktorer inn og ut av nettverket for å forandre senterfrekvensen og å stille inn området til sigma-delta modulatoren (100) som dermed eliminerer aktive komponenter i hvert LC nettverk (110, 118). Videre forbedrer bruken av MEMS brytere Q for hvert LC nettverk (110, 118) relativt til tidligere på-brikke sigma-delta modulatorkonstruksjoner. Den økte Q i hvert LC nettverk (110, 118) reduserer eller eliminerer behovet for aktive Q forbedrende kretser og forbedrer den innbygde filterformingen innenfor sløyfen i sigmadelta modulatoren (100). I tillegg vil forstyrrelse av aktive komponenter innenfor sløyfene (1 46, 146', 148, 148') til sigma-delta modulatoren (100) også bli forbedret. Tillegget av en desimator 252 på brikken representerer en komplett enkel brikke LC sigma-delta analog til digital konverter 250.
