Abstract

I en fremgangsmåte for smelting av tungmetallholdige, spesi- elt Zn-holdige, stoffer (4), der stoffene (4) føres inn i en konverter eller rortorovn som tjener som smelteovn (1), og smeltes til slagg (10) av en brenner (2) som drives ved hjelp av en gass, som har en større oksygenandel enn luft, eller oksygen (6) og fossile brennstoff (5), hvorved det dannes røykgasser (7), drives brenneren (2) og/eller det flytende slagg (10) såpass reduktivt at Zn overføres til gassfasen, idet disse gassene forlater smelten og dermed blandes og føres ut med røykgassen (7). Dersom stoffene (4) som inneholder tungmetaller i tillegg inneholder Cu, tilfø- res slagget (10) flytende Fe-regulus (13) som bidrar til Cu- utarmingen. Tungmetallinnholdet i slagget (10) blir så lavt at slagget (10) underskrider de påkrevde grenseverdier for deponering.
