Abstract

A disposable pallet comprises a base plate (1) of corrugated cardboard and a plurality of block-shaped feet (2) situated on the bottom side of the base plate (1). Each block-shaped foot (2) is made of a strong corrugated cardboard and is substantially solid, said foot comprising a substantially planar laminate including at least ten layers (3a, 3b, 3c, ..) of corrugated cardboard situated substantially perpendicular to the base plate (1). Compared to the main dimension (H) of the base plate (1) the block-shaped foot (2) is of a relatively small height (h), i.e. 1,5 to 3,5 per cent of "H". A typical range of values for "h" is 15-35 mm. The pallet is very simple and strong and furthermore very inexpensive.

Description

The invention relates to a loading pallet, preferably for one-time use and of the kind that is made up of a carrier plate made of corrugated cardboard, as well as a number of foot blocks placed on the underside of the carrier plate, also made of corrugated cardboard, where the individual foot block is made of a strong corrugated cardboard and is mainly solid, as it consists of a substantially planar laminate with at least ten corrugated cardboard layers, placed substantially perpendicular to the support plate, so that small channels in at least part of the corrugated cardboard layers in each foot block extend substantially perpendicular to the support plate.

It has long been known to produce pallets from corrugated cardboard. Thus, it is known from US Patent No. 3,763,791 a pallet whose foot blocks are made up of small box-shaped bodies of corrugated cardboard, the walls of these bodies having two layers of corrugated cardboard. The box-shaped bodies have protruding flaps of corrugated cardboard, by means of which the bodies are attached to the underside of the pallet's support plate. Namely, the aforementioned tabs are brought up through slots in the carrier plate and bent over on the upper side of the carrier plate. In addition, the foot blocks are quite high. This pallet does not work completely satisfactorily due to the two circumstances just mentioned, as a large internal hollowness in the foot block means that the latter becomes rather weak. The fact that the foot blocks are relatively high means that when the pallet is on the ground and is loaded with goods, they will be able to detach relatively easily from the carrier plate, if the latter is subjected to a horizontal force. Finally, it is a disadvantage that this pallet construction is rather complicated.

GB-697,232 shows another pallet of this type. This known pallet has box-shaped foot blocks constructed by gluing together several layers of double corrugated cardboard and comprises a support plate formed from two layers of double corrugated cardboard fastened together by means of staples. The bottom layer of the support plate is designed with a number of square recesses to receive the foot blocks. "The recesses are formed by marking the correct squares on the bottom layer of the material, using notches and making diagonal cuts across each square. After the layers are stapled together, the triangular tabs made at the cuts are bent outwards at right angles to the panel to reveal the recesses A disadvantage of this known pallet is that it is rather complicated.Furthermore, the box-shaped foot blocks, which are very high, can easily detach from the carrier plate in the event that the carrier plate is subjected to a large horizontal force when the pallet is loaded with objects while standing on the ground.

Furthermore, US-3,477,395 describes a leg structure for a pallet. This leg structure is formed from layers of double corrugated cardboard which are slotted to allow folding of the layers. After folding, the leg structure is glued to a pallet surface component to form conventional pallets.

The purpose of the invention is to provide a loading pallet of the type mentioned above, which is of simpler and stronger construction than hitherto known, and which is also very compact.

Compactness is very important, because many pallets with stacked goods must be able to be stacked on top of each other in small spaces, for example in a container or in a truck, while making maximum use of the space (there must be as little air as possible), and this compactness must is secured at the same time with easy possibility for safe handling of the loading pallets with a forklift.

The loading pallet according to the invention is characterized in that the foot blocks have a height that is 1.5 to 3.5$ of the length of the support plate, that the corrugated cardboard used for the laminate of the foot blocks is of a type with a weight in the range 140 - 180 g/m<2> , preferably 160 g/m<2>, and that the foot blocks are glued directly and separately to the carrier plate. This results in the pallet being extremely simple and strong, and also very cheap. The strength comes from the fact that the foot blocks have no weak interior. It is not enough to make the individual foot block from a laminate with a small number of corrugated cardboard layers. At least ten more teams are needed. As a result of the foot blocks being very low (as a result of the large number of corrugated cardboard layers) and very wide, there is no danger of them tearing loose due to lateral impact of the loading pallet when it is loaded with goods. The pallet is also particularly suitable for the transport of goods in containers or wagon cargo spaces, where the space must be used to the maximum, and where at the same time you want the pallets to be able to be loaded and unloaded with the help of a forklift. Due to its very simple construction, the pallet is extremely cheap. In certain cases, you can allow yourself to dispose of it after use, so that it is only used once. By using a corrugated cardboard in the foot blocks which has a weight in the range 140 - 180 g/m^, preferably 160 g/m^, it is achieved that the loading pallet will have a sufficiently great strength.

The features according to subsequent claim 1 work together in that they ensure a light, environmentally friendly pallet, where the foot blocks, as these must not be able to break or twist loose from the carrier plate during the pallet's use, are preserved intact and in place in relation to the carrier plate, even if the pallet is exposed for strong, vertical forces, whose point of attack constantly shifts slightly, as happens when pallets filled with heavy goods are placed in a truck, which shakes during driving.

Moreover, according to the invention, at least part of the pallet, preferably the foot blocks, can be coated and/or impregnated with a water-repellent agent, for example wax or plastic material, whereby the pallet becomes stronger in a very simple way, even if it is exposed to moisture, as the moisture cannot weaken the foot blocks.

According to the invention, the laminate of the foot blocks may include one or more very thin layers of foam plastic, preferably polyvinyl chloride, whereby the individual foot block is significantly strengthened.

According to the invention, the foot blocks made of laminate can be glued to the carrier plate with one-component latex glue, whereby the production time of the pallet is shortened.

According to the invention, the small channels in the individual corrugated cardboard layer in the individual foot block can extend perpendicularly to the support plate, thereby increasing the load-bearing capacity of the blocks.

Furthermore, according to the invention, the underside of the foot blocks can be covered by a covering layer, for example of paperboard or corrugated cardboard, whereby it is ensured that water will not be drawn up by capillary action into the small channels in the vertical corrugated cardboard layers. Said small channels have a largest cross-sectional dimension of approx. 4 - 5 mm.

Furthermore, according to the invention, one or more thin metal wires can extend around the individual foot block to hold the corrugated cardboard layers together, when these are loaded. This achieves that the corrugated cardboard layer of the individual foot block is prevented from being pushed out to the side by large vertical loads. The foot blocks are thus strengthened very significantly.

Finally, according to the invention, the corrugated cardboard layers in the individual foot block can be cross-laid, the small channels in the individual corrugated cardboard layer being mainly perpendicular to the small channels in the neighboring corrugated cardboard layer.

Vanligvis er den anvendte bølgepapp av typen "ensidig well" med en vekt i intervallet 140 - 180 g/m<2>, fortrinnsvis 160 g/m<2.>The pallet shown in Figure 1, which is preferably for single use, consists of a carrier plate 1 of corrugated cardboard and a number of foot blocks 2 placed on the underside of the carrier plate. The latter is likewise made of corrugated cardboard. The carrier plate 1 preferably consists of a horizontal corrugated cardboard layer, but it can also perfectly consist of two or three such layers. The individual foot block 2 consists, as shown in figure 2, of a mainly flat laminate with at least ten corrugated cardboard layers 3a, 3b, 3c, which corrugated cardboard layers are mainly perpendicular to the support plate 1. As can be seen, the foot block is mainly solid, as there are no large cavity in its interior. The corrugated cardboard used is of a strong type. The height h of the individual foot block is relatively small compared to the pallet's main dimension H and lies in the interval 15 - 35 mm. The foot blocks are thus very low, which is important because the pallet with associated stacked goods must take up as little volume as possible when it is parked in, for example, a container or in a wagon loading space. However, the foot blocks must be just high enough that a forklift's forks can sneak under the pallet in order to lift and handle it. Usually the corrugated board used is of the "one-sided well" type with a weight in the range 140 - 180 g/m<2>, preferably 160 g/m<2.>

In order to increase the foot blocks' resistance to moisture, they can be coated and/or impregnated with a water-repellent agent, for example wax or plastic material, preferably polyvinyl chloride.

As shown in Figure 3, the corrugated cardboard layer of the individual foot block 2 may include one or more very thin layers of foam plastic, as for example indicated at 4a, 4b and 4c. These layers will partly act as a barrier layer, and partly increase the compressive strength of the foot block.

The individual foot block 2 is preferably glued to the support plate 1 using a one-component latex film.

Figure 2 shows, as mentioned, a foot block seen obliquely from below. It is noted that the small channels 5a, 5b, 5c in the individual corrugated cardboard layer preferably extend perpendicular to the support plate 1.

As shown in Figure 4, the underside of the individual foot block 2 can be covered by a covering layer 6, for example of paper, cardboard or corrugated cardboard. This prevents moisture to a certain extent from seeping into the small channels 5a, 5b, 5c (see figure 2) in the block.

As shown in Figure 5, one or more thin metal wires 8', 8" can extend around the individual foot block 2 to increase the foot block's compressive strength. Optionally, the metal wires can also extend between two successive corrugated cardboard layers in the inside of the foot block . The invention can also be changed in many ways without thereby deviating from its idea. Thus, as shown in Figure 6, the corrugated cardboard layers in the individual brick 2 can be cross-laid, with the small channels 10a, 10b, 10c in the layer 10 mainly perpendicular to the small channels lia, 11b in layer 11.
