Abstract

A disposable pallet comprises a base plate (1) of corrugated cardboard and a plurality of block-shaped feet (2) situated on the bottom side of the base plate (1). Each block-shaped foot (2) is made of a strong corrugated cardboard and is substantially solid, said foot comprising a substantially planar laminate including at least ten layers (3a, 3b, 3c, ..) of corrugated cardboard situated substantially perpendicular to the base plate (1). Compared to the main dimension (H) of the base plate (1) the block-shaped foot (2) is of a relatively small height (h), i.e. 1,5 to 3,5 per cent of "H". A typical range of values for "h" is 15-35 mm. The pallet is very simple and strong and furthermore very inexpensive.

Description

i DK 166768 B1in DK 166768 B1

Field of the Invention The invention relates to a disposable pallet preferably for single use and of the kind constructed of a corrugated cardboard backing and a plurality of foot pads located on the underside of the backing board which are of heavy corrugated cardboard and generally solid, each consisting of a substantially flat laminate. with at least ten corrugated sheets positioned substantially perpendicular to the carrier plate, and the small channels in at least one portion of the corrugated sheets in each footer extending substantially perpendicular to the carrier plate.

It has long been known to manufacture pallets of corrugated cardboard 10. Thus, from US Patent No. 3,763,791, a pallet is known, the foot pads of which are made up of small box-shaped corrugated corpses, with a layer of corrugated cardboard in the walls of these corrugations. The box-shaped bodies have protruding tabs of corrugated cardboard, by means of which the bodies are attached to the underside 15 of the pallet support plate and folded on the upper surface of the carrier plate. In addition, the foot pads are quite high. This pallet does not work completely satisfactorily due to the two circumstances just mentioned, as a large internal cavity in the foot block causes the latter to become rather weak. The fact that the foot pads are rather high means that when the pallet is on the ground and loaded goods, they will be able to disengage from the carrier plate relatively easily if the latter is subjected to a horizontal force effect. Furthermore, it is a disadvantage that this pallet structure is rather complicated.

English Patent No. 1,535,825 discloses a cardboard box, on which the bottom wall of which is mounted fairly high foot blocks consisting of a corrugated cardboard laminate, which laminate has at least ten corrugated cardboard sheets. These are generally disposed perpendicular to the support plate. Due to the fact that the foot pads are quite high compared to the main dimension of the bottom wall and have a relatively large spacing and relatively small spread in the horizontal direction, there is a danger that the bottom wall, when the cardboard box is filled, will bend so much that it breaks. Furthermore, the cardboard box of 35 is a rather complicated structure. This is not entirely satisfactory. From British Patent Specifications No. 697,232 and No. 988,428, pallets with similar foot blocks are known, but these pallets are not strong and compact because the bricks are high. The foot pads are also vulnerable because they are not so resilient.

OF THE INVENTION It is an object of the invention to provide a pallet of the kind mentioned earlier, which is of simpler and stronger construction than hitherto known, which is very compact and also exhibits some elasticity in the foot pads.

Elasticitet i fodklodseme er ønskelig, fordi den enkelte fodklods, når lastpallen skal klemmes ind på plads i et container- eller lastvognsrum, ellers let vil ødelægges.10 Compactness is very important because many pallets with stacked goods must be able to be stacked on top of one another in small spaces, e.g. in a container or truck, under maximum utilization of space (there should be as little air as possible), and this compactness must be ensured at the same time with easy possibility of 15 safe handling of the pallets by forklift. Elasticity of the foot pads is desirable because the individual pads, when the pallet is to be squeezed into place in a container or truck compartment, will otherwise easily be damaged.

The pallet according to the invention is characterized in that the foot pads 20 have a height of approx. 15 - 35 mm, that the corrugated board contained in the laminate of the foot blocks has a weight of 140 - 180 g / m2, preferably 160 g / m2, and that the foot blocks are glued directly to the support plate only by means of a single component latex / µm. This ensures that the pallet becomes extremely simple and strong. Strength 25 comes from the fact that the foot blocks have no fragile interior.

It is not enough to make the individual footboard of a laminate with a small number of corrugated sheets. At least ten layers of the specified type are required. Due to the fact that the foot pads are very low and are attached to the single-component latex adhesive support plate, there is no danger of being torn off the support plate by laterally impacting the pallet when the latter is loaded. As the foot pads are very low, the pallet is very compact. Furthermore, since the distance between the foot pads is usually relatively small, there is little risk that the load plate will burst between the pads at load when loaded. By having the corrugated cardboard's corrugated cardboard weight per m in the specified range, the foot pads will also be reasonably elastic. The pallet is particularly suitable for transporting goods in containers or 5 cargo compartments, where the space must be utilized to the extreme, and where you also want the pallet to be able to be loaded and unloaded by forklift. Due to its very simple construction, the pallet is extremely cheap so that it is suitable for single use.

According to the invention, at least a portion of the pallet, preferably the foot pads, can be coated and / or impregnated with a water repellent, e.g. wax or plastic material, which in a very simple way makes the pallet stronger, even if exposed to moisture, as the moisture can weaken the foot-bricks.

One or more very thin layers of foamed plastic, preferably polyvinyl chloride, may be included in the laminate of the footing according to the invention, thereby considerably strengthening the individual footing while increasing its elasticity.

Nævnte små kanaler har som oftest en største tværsnitsdimensi-25 on på 4 - 5 mm.Still, according to the invention, the underside of the foot pads may be covered by a cover layer, e.g. of paper, cardboard or corrugated cardboard, ensuring that water by capillary action will not be able to draw up into the small channels of the vertical corrugated cardboard layers. Said small channels usually have a greatest cross-sectional dimension of 4-5 mm.

In addition, according to the invention, one or more thin metal wires may extend around the individual footing block to adhere the corrugated sheets when loaded. This ensures that the corrugated sheet of the individual foot block 7 is prevented from being pushed out 30 to the side at large vertical loads. The foot blocks are thus greatly strengthened.

Finally, according to the invention, the corrugated sheets in the individual DK 166768 B1 4 foot block may be cross-cut, with the small channels in the single corrugated sheet being substantially perpendicular to the small channels in the neighboring corrugated sheet.

The invention is explained below with reference to the drawing, in which fig. 1 is a perspective view of one embodiment of the pallet according to the invention, showing clearly how the very low foot pads of the pallet are placed on the underside of the pallet carrier plate; FIG. 2 is a plan view of a base block from below; FIG. Fig. 3 shows another embodiment of a base block where layers of corrugated cardboard have layers of foam plastic; 4 shows a further embodiment of a foot pad, the underside of the foot pad being provided with a horizontal corrugated cardboard layer; FIG. 5 shows yet another embodiment of a base block in which one or more circular metal wires are arranged for holding and strengthening the many corrugated sheets; and FIG. 6 is a section of a base block with cross-woven corrugated sheets.

The embodiment of FIG. 1, the pallet shown, which is preferably for single use, consists of a corrugated board 1 and a number of foot pads placed on the underside of the carrier plate. The latter is also corrugated. The support plate 1 preferably consists of a horizontal corrugated cardboard layer, but can nevertheless consist very well of two or three such layers. As shown in FIG. 2, of a substantially flat laminate having at least ten corrugated sheets 3a, 3b, 3c, ..., which corrugated sheets are generally perpendicular to the carrier plate 1. As can be seen, the foot block is substantially solid, with no large voids present in it. its DK 166768 B1 5 interior. The corrugated board used is of a strong type. The height h of the individual foot block is 15 - 35 ram and relatively small compared to the main dimension H of the pallet and is typically 1.5 - 3.5% of the dimension H. The foot pad is thus very low, which is important because the pallet with associated stacked goods should occupy as little volume as possible when placed in e.g. a container or in a cargo hold. However, the foot pads must be just as tall that the forks of a forklift truck can sneak under the pallet in order to lift and handle it.

The corrugated board used may be of the "one-sided" type and at least have a weight of 140 - 180 g / m 2, preferably 160 g / m 2.

In order to increase the resistance of the feet to moisture, they may be coated and / or impregnated with water repellent 15 e.g. wax or plastic material, preferably polyvinyl chloride.

As shown in FIG. 3, one or more very thin layers of foam plastic may be included in the corrugated paper laminate of each footer 2, as indicated, for example, by 4a, 4b and 4c. These layers 20 will partly act as barrier layers and partly increase the strength and elasticity of the foot pad.

The individual footing block 2 is glued directly to the support plate 1 by means of a single-component latex film.

It is clearly seen that the small channels 5a, 5b, 5c, in the individual corrugated sheet, extend perpendicular to the carrier plate 1.

2) i klodsen. As shown in FIG. 4, the underside of the individual foot block 2 may be covered by a cover layer 6, e.g. of paper, cardboard or corrugated cardboard. This prevents moisture to a certain extent from seeping into the small channels 5a, 5b, 5c (see Fig. 2) in the block.
