Description

Konserveringsmiddel for tremasse, papirmasse og liknende masser fremstillet av tre.
Denne oppfinnelse vedrører konserve-ringen av treslipemasse mot infeksjon fra
treråtesopper, for eksempel Basidiomyce-tes, som bevirker misfarging og nedbryt-ning av trefibrene, og som når de først har
utviklet seg, kan ødelegge en balle av tremasse i løpet av få uker.
Ifølge den foreliggende oppfinnelse
er det skaffet et konserveringsmiddel for
tremasse, papirmasse og liknende masser
på basis av tre, hvilket inneholder trimetyl-, trietyl- eller tripropyltinn-8-hydrok-sy-kinolinat.
I det foranstående og det etterfølgen-de er det spesielt henvist til konservering
av «tremasse», men det vil forståes at dette
uttrykk omfatter enhvert art masse fremstillet på basis av tre, for eksempel kje-misk og halvkjemisk masse, cellulosemas-se, foruten rent mekanisk opparbeidet sli-pemasse. For enkelhets skyld vil det imid-lertid i det etterfølgende bare bli henvist
rent generelt til «tremasse», idet dette uttrykk er ment å omfatte enhver av de
foranstående arter av masse.
Fortrinnsvis anvendes tripropyltinn-8-hydroksy-kinolinat som følge av dettes lavere fremstillingspris og lavere toksisitet
for pattedyr enn trimetylforbindelsen og
trietylforbindelsen, selv om disse er like
effektive.
Det flytende konserveringsmiddel kan
tilsettes til tremassen på mange forskjel-lige måter. For eksempel kan midlet tilsettes til tremassen i ren tilstand, men dette
vil ikke alltid være helt effektivt, som føl-
ge av at disse konserveringsmiddelforbin-delser ikke kan blande seg med vann som forefinnes i tremassen. Dette trekk vil lett bevirke at forbindelsen isoleres i oljeaktige ansamlinger som er skilt fra vannfasen, og derfor er ute av stand til å angripe de ønskete mikroorganismer gjennom hele massen. For å avhjelpe dette, kan konser-veringsmiddelforbindelsen eller et salt her-av innføres i tremassen i et vannoppløselig oppløsningsmiddel, fortrinnsvis i en for-tynning av en del salt til opptil 10 deler oppløsningsmiddel, hvorved saltet vil bli dispergert i hele den vandige fase og dets virkning gjennom hele massen gjøres let-tere. Egnete oppløsningsmidler som kan anvendes er aceton, dioksan, metanol og etanol. Om ønskes, kan den resulterende oppløsning dispergeres i vann før den tilsettes til tremassen, og den vandige dispersjon kan tilsettes kontinuerlig til den slipte tremasse før den formes til baller, med en slik tilsetningshastighet at de ferdige baller inneholder 30—50 deler pr. million av salt, eller enhver annen konsentrasjon som
ansees ønskelig for å oppnå tilstrekkelig konservering.
En alternativ fremgangsmåte til å inn-føre konserveringssaltet i tremassen kan anvendes enten i samband med den foran beskrevne metode med oppløsningsmiddel, eller på annen måte. I denne alternative fremgangsmåte innføres konserveringsmidlet i tremassen i form av en selvemulgerende dispersjon. Dette oppnåes ved å blande konserveringsmiddelsaltet med et oljeoppløselig, ikkejonogent fuktemiddel, og om ønskes kan et fortynningsmiddel tilsettes til blandingen for å senke prisen på konserveringsblandingen. Det kan anvendes et egnet fuktemiddel. for eksempel «Nonex 29» eller «Nonex 102», som begge er poly-etylenglycolestere. Egnete fortynningsmidler kan for eksempel være mineralolje, hy-drocarbonfraksjoner såsom flytende para-fin og «white spirit», eller lette til middels tunge petroleumsfraksjoner.
Utførelseseksempler på oppfinnelsen vil nå bli beskrevet i de etterfølgende eksempler.
Eksempel 1:
171,7 vektsdeler trimetyl-tinnoksyd ble blandet med 145 vektsdeler 8-hydroksykinolin. Den resulterende blanding ble oppvarmet ved 115° C i 30 minutter, filtrert og nedkjølt. Produktet fremstilt som filtratet var trimetyl-tinn-8-hydroksykinolinat.
Eksempel 2:
207,7 vektsdeler trietyl-tinnoksyd ble blandet med 145 vektsdeler 8-hydroksykinolin. Den resulterende blanding ble oppvarmet ved en temperatur på 115° C i 30 minutter, filtrert og nedkjølt. Produktet fremstilt som filtratet var trietyl-tinn-8-hydroksykinolinat.
Eksempel 3:
236 vektsdeler tripropyltinnoksyd ble blandet med 150 vektsdeler 8-hydroksykinolin. Den resulterende blanding ble oppvarmet ved en temperatur på 115" C i 30 minutter, filtrert og nedkjølt. Produktet fremstilt som filtratet var tripropyl-tinn-8-hydroksvkinolinat.
Som det har vært angitt foran kan re-aksionsproduktene oppnådd i eksemplene 1 til 3 anvendes i ren tilstand som konserveringsmiddel for tremasse, men . anvendes fortrinnsvis i et vannoppløselig oppløs-ningsmiddel eller som en selvemulgerende dispersjon. slik det vil bli forklart ved de etterfølgende eksempler.
Eksempel 4:
Et av kinolinatene oppnådd i eksemplene 1 til 3 ble blandet med et vannopp-løselig oppløsningsmiddel såsom azeton, dioksan, metanol eller etanol i forholdet 1 volumdel av kinolinatet til 5 volumdeler av oppløsningsmidlet. Blandingen ble om-rørt og påført på en prøve av tremasse. Oppløsningsmidlet var istand til å disper-gere kinolinatet i hele den vandige fase som opprinnelig var tilstede i tremassen.
Eksempel 5:
Et av kinolinatene oppnådd i eksemplene 1 til 3 ble blandet med et ikke-jono-gent fuktemiddel, såsom «Nonex 69» og «Nonex 102», så at det ble oppnådd et selvemulgerende preparat. Det ble anvendt like volummengder kinolinat og fuktemiddel, selvom det om ønskes kan anvendes andre forhold, for eksempel forhold på 2:1, 1:2 og 1:3 mellom kinolinat og fuktemiddel. Den beste sammensetning når det gjelder å lette emulgerbarheten, er der hvor man har et høyere innhold av fuktemidler.
Eksempel 6:
For å gjøre konserveringsblandingen billigere, kan det tilsettes andre produkter som bare virker som fortynningsmidler, for eksempel
De forannevnte produkter blandes sammen i et egnet reaksjonskar ved værel-sestemperatur, og er etter 15 minutters omrøring ferdig for anvendelse som konserveringsmidler. ,Selv. om mineralolje er nevnt spesielt som fortynningsmiddel, kan det i denne forbindelse også anvendes andre produkter, for eksempel hydrocarbon-fraksjoner såsom bensin eller «white spirit» og lette til middeltunge petroleumsfraksjoner.
Tremassekonserveringsmidlene ifølge den foreliggende oppfinnelse blir ikke in-aktivert av visse medlemmer av Penicillium (for eksempel Penicillium roqueforti) slik som tidligere foreslåtte vanlige tre-massekonserveringsmidler, og heller ikke inaktiveres de av organisk bundet svovel som forekommer særlig i tremasse fra visse fabrikker ved kysten.
Likeledes viste produkter ifølge oppfinnelsen som ble undersøkt på fire utvalg-te arter av pulpråtesopper (Basidiomyce-tes) med den vanlige agarplateprøve sam-menliknet med et vanlig konserveringsmiddel, like gode resultater for svovelfri tremasse og bibeholdt også omtrent den samme aktivitetsgrad overfor svovelrik tremasse som ga fullstendig inaktivering av det vanlige konserveringsmiddel. Produk-tene ifølge oppfinnelsen er termisk stabile og pulpdannelsen kan gjennomføres ved høyere temperaturer enn vanlig, samtidig som lagring i mange måneder ved —2° C ikke ga noe merkbart tap av aktivitet. Pro-duktene har lavere toksisitet overfor pattedyr enn kjente konserveringsmidler, og deres endelige spaltningsprodukter er i realiteten ugiftige.
Det vil være klart at selv om det i denne beskrivelse og i påstandene er henvist til et konserveringsmiddel for tremasse som omfatter trimetyl-, trietyl- eller tri-propyl-tinn-8-hydroksykinolinat, at sam-mensatte forbindelser hvorfra slike kinoli-nater vil bli dannet, også kan anvendes i samsvar med oppfinnelsen. For eksempel kan det tilsettes til tremassen et konserveringsmiddel som omfatter en blanding av tripropyltinnoksyd eller hydroksyd og 8-hydroksykinolin idet tripropyltinnoksy-det eller hydroksydet og 8-hydroksykinoli-nat reagerer under tilsetningen for dan-nelse av det aktive konserveringsmiddel tripropyl-tinn-8-hydroksy kinolinat.
Likeledes kan vilkårlige to eller alle tre av forbindelsene trimetyl-, trietyl- og tripropyl-tinn-8-hydroksykinolinat anvendes i blanding.

Claims (2)

1. Konserveringsmiddel for tremasse, papirmasse og liknende masser fremstillet på basis av tre, omfattende metallsalter av 8-oksykinolin, karakterisert ved at det inneholder trimetyl-, trietyl- eller tri-propyltinn-8-hydroksykinolinat.
