Description
Fremgangsmåte for agglomerering av aluminiumnitrid.
Aluminiumnitrid er et fortreffelig ildfast material. Spesielt er det det eneste vanlige material som helt tåler berøring med flytende og gassformet aluminium ved høy temperatur og i vakuum.
Uheldigvis er det vanskelig å fremstille mursten, formstykker eller digler av aluminiumnitrid da sintringen først begynner ved temperaturer over 1800°. Det er følge-lig nødvendig å føre inn et bindemiddel som holder seg opp til denne temperatur og tillater baking av aluminiumnitridgjen-standene uten deformering av disse, sam-tidig som det ikke må innføres noen sjene-rende forurensninger.
De vanlige bindemidler av typen vandig lim (dekstrin, gummi arabikum), eller oppløsninger i et oppløsningsmiddel (ace-to-cellulose, gummi) er ikke egnet da skje-lettet av gjenværende kullstoff, etter bren-ning, meget raskt ødelegges ved reaksjon med nitridet eller de små forurensninger som det inneholder og som forøvrig er uunngåelig hvis det foregår en svak elek-trolyse med et vandig bindemiddel. Natri-umsilikat tåler ikke temperaturer over ca. 1600°, og reagerer deretter med nitridet og gir flyktige produkter. Lere vil, foruten å medføre fare for forurensning av produk-tet også reduseres ved hjelp av nitridet før sintringstemperaturen nås.
Foreliggende oppfinnelse gjør det mu-lig å unngå disse vanskeligheter og å opp-nå lette stykker av aluminiumnitrid. Den består i at formede gjenstander fremstillet av aluminiumholdige produkter og kullstoff holdige materialer tilsatt en kalsium-aluminatsement blir nitridisert mellom 1600 og 1800° C i en kvelstoffstrøm.
Disse gjenstander beholder sin form hvis temperaturen i nitridiseringsovnen er jevn, og frigjøringen av kulloksyd gjør stenen meget porøs. Det teoretiske forhold mellom vekten etter og før nitridiseringen er ca. 0,6, dvs. at med en spesifikk vekt på 1,7 til å begynne med vil det etter nitridi-sering oppnås et ildfast isolasjonsstoff med spesifikk vekt på ca. 1 og et kvelstoffinnhold på 34 %.
Denne fremgangsmåte kan selvsagt brukes ved fremstilling på stedet av en høyildfast isolasjonsforing i en ovn.
For fremstilling av de formede stykker av aluminium og kullstoff brukes for-trinnsvis et bindemiddel som størkner i kulde hvorved arbeidet blir lettere. Et syn-tetisk bindemiddel på basis av kalsiumalu-minat, f. eks. med sammensetningen 5AL,
O.,, 3CaO er meget egnet. Det kalsium det inneholder forsvinner i det minste delvis under brenningen og har i alle tilfeller in-gen nedsettende virkning på ildfastheten av de produkter som oppnås da det omdan-nes til en ildfast karbid- eller kullstoff-nitrid-forbindelse.

Etter at materialene er nitridisert ved 1750° blir stenen meget porøs, har lysegrå farve, kvelstoffinnhold over 30 %, spesifikk vekt litt under 1.
Eksempel 2:
Følgende blanding blir stampet på top-pen av en ovn:
Blandingen nitridiseres på stedet, i en kvelstoffstrøm ved elektrisk oppvarming til 1800°.
Etter kjøling legges det merke til at foringen er nitridisert til mere enn 30 %, den er svakt blå og dens spesifikke vekt er 0,9.
Claims (1)
- Fremgangsmåte for fremstilling av ild-faste formete legemer av aluminiumnitrid ved at en blanding av aluminiumholdig og kullstoffholdig material oppvarmes i den ønskete form i en nitrogenatmosfære, karakterisert ved at blandingen oppvarmes til en temperatur på mellom 1600 og 1800° C under anvendelse av en kalsiumaluminat-sement som bindemiddel.
