Description
Basisk dolomittisk stampemasse for vegger og herder i metallurgiske ovner.
Dolomitt med eller uten bindemidler
eller blandinger inneholdende mangan, eller steiner som vanligvis er basiske, brukes på det nåværende tidspunkt som foring for herder og vegger i metallurgiske ovner.
Til tross for at de eksisterende metoder
gir forholdsvis gode resultater, tilfredsstiller de dog ikke fullstendig de spesielle krav som de nye tekniske fremskritt i de metallurgiske ovner stiller.
Det forekommer at herder i ovner av
og til må repareres som følge av skadevirk-ninger av forskjellig art og grad forårsaket av det flytende ståls og slaggens korrode-rende virkning. Dette forårsaker selvsagt avbrytelser i driften og minsker ovnens produksj onskapasitet.
Fra Encyclopedia of Chemical Techno-logy av Kirk Othmer (Vol 11, side 609, linje 10—12) er det kjent å anvende små pro-sentuale mengder av aluminiumoksyd som har den oppgave å tjene som bindemiddel for ildsikre materialer på basis av dolomitt og magnesitt. På den annen side er der i USA patent 1 394 442 beskrevet ildfaste materialer fremstilt av en blanding av kalci-nert magnesiumoksyd (eller dolomitt) og aluminiumoksyd, begge i form av et meget findelt pulver som blandes med vann eller et annet bindemiddel. Endelig er der i australsk patent 212 021 beskrevet ildfaste mursteiner som er fremstilt på basis av magnesiumoksyd og aluminiumoksyd som danner spinell.
Foreliggende oppfinnelse tar sikte på å eliminere de ovenfor nevnte ulemper ved at stampemassen formes ved bruk av spesielle størrelser av materialstykker og en spesiell blanding, og i henhold til oppfinnelsen anvendes der som stampemasse en blanding med den følgende sammensetning som har gitt utmerkede resultater: 40 pst. brent dolomitt i større stykker 80—120 mm, 20 pst. brent dolomitt i mindre stykker 40— 70 mm, 15 pst. brent dolomitt i kornstørrelse 3— 10 mm; 25 pst. pulverformet aluminiumoksyd og magnesiumoksyd.
Den i den underliggende del av herden anbragte pulverformede del kan bestå av 50 pst. brent dolomitt og resten av 50 pst. aluminiumoksyd og magnesiumoksyd, mens den pulverformede del i topplaget i en tykkelse på minst 150 mm bare kan bestå av aluminiumoksyd og brent magnesitt eller et annet, lignende, brent magnesiummate-riale.
Med brent dolomitt forståes det kjente basiske ildfaste materiale som brukes i jernmetallurgien og som vanligvis fremstilles ved brenning enten i roterende brennovner eller i spesielle vertikale kupol-ovner, hvor brenntemperaturen når 1700 til 1800° C.
Det pulverformige materiale bestående av aluminiumoksyd og magnesiumoksyd blandet med kornformet, brent dolomitt fyller hulrommene mellom stykkene, slik at disse vil være omgitt av en grunnmasse bestående av spinell som dannes under de høye arbeidstemperaturer i ovnen. Dette materiale hindrer hydrering av stykkene av brent dolomitt under de normale still-standsperioder i ovnen og bevirker dessuten en bedre motstandsevne, såvel termisk som kjemisk, sammenlignet med den hittil kjente stampemasse.
Selve fremstillingen av stampemassen skjer ved at hvert enkelt lag stampes i hele den høyde som er nødvendig; den spesielle gradering av stampemassen ifølge oppfinnelsen gjør det mulig med fordel å bruke mekaniske vibrerende stampeinnretninger.
I det følgende skal der gis et eksempel på fremstillingen av en dolomittherd for en 30 tonns lysbueovn.
Det opprinnelige lag i berøring med platene som danner metallbekledningen eller -mantelen i ovnen, består av steiner av våthydrolysert magnesitt eller dolomitt eller av aluminiumoksyd-stein. Derpå anbringes en fylling av brent dolomitt i klumper på 40 til 120 mm, og over dem anbringes for hvert 120 mm's lag den del som består av korn og den pulverformede del som sva-rer til 40 vektpst. av den av klumper bestående del. Arrangementet av både klum-pene og den kornformede og pulverformede del må utføres meget nøyaktig.
Når alt materiale i ovnsherden er bragt på plass, påbegynnes stampingen ved hjelp av mekaniske vibratorer.
For en 30 tonns lysbueovn er tykkelsen av den ildfaste herd omtrent 450 mm. Der kreves følgende materiale: 8000 kg brent dolomitt i større stykker eller
klumper 80—120 mm 4000 kg brent dolomitt
i mindre stykker 40— 80 mm 3000 kg brent dolomitt
i kornform 3— 10 mm 5000 kg pulverformet materiale bestående av aluminiumoksyd og magnesiumoksyd, hvorav 3600 kg er aluminiumoksyd (Al.,0:i) og 1400 kg er magnesiumoksyd (MgO).
For å bringe omkostningene for den ildfaste stampemasse så lavt ned som mulig uten derved å nedsette det ildfaste ma-teriales egenskaper, tilsettes den pulverformede blanding av aluminiumoksyd og magnesiumoksyd på en slik måte at den dekker og omslutter dolomittklumpene bare i topplaget på minst 150 mm, idet der for de underliggende deler brukes en pulverformet blanding bestående av 50 pst. brent dolomitt og resten aluminiumoksyd og magnesiumoksyd eller annet lignende mag-nesiumoksydholdig materiale.
Ifølge oppfinnelsen består herdover-fiaten av 60 pst. dolomittklumper og 40 pst. av en grunnmasse av aluminiumoksyd og magnesiumoksyd med korn av brent dolomitt. Blandingen av aluminiumoksyd og magnesiumoksyd (1 del MgO og 2,5 deler A120.,) fremstilles slik at der dannes en spinell (ALjO.j.MgO) ved den høye arbeids-temperatur i den metallurgiske ovn.
Spinellens smeltepunkt (2135° C) er særlig egnet til å tilveiebringe en sement som binder dolomittmaterialet ved de høye arbeidstemperaturer i metallurgiske ovner.
Utførte forsøk har vist at herdoverfla-tene i metallurgiske ovner, dannet på den ovenfor angitte måte, har en betydelig større kjemisk og termisk motstandsevne og derved tillater en besparelse på ca.
15 pst. av det materiale som er nødvendig
for å holde i stand selve herden, og en større produktiv kapasitet av ovnen, som kan anslås til ca. 6 pst.
Claims (2)
1. Basisk dolomittisk stampemasse for vegger og herder i metallurgiske ovner, karakterisert ved at den består av 40 prosent brent dolomitt i stykker eller klumper av størrelse 80—120 mm, 20 prosent brent dolomitt i stykker eller klumper av størrelse 40—70 mm, 15 prosent brent dolomitt i korn av størrelse 3—10 mm og resten 25 prosent pulverformet magnesitt og aluminiumoksyd.
2. Herd for metallurgiske ovner, hvor der anvendes stampemasse i henhold til påstand 1, karakterisert ved at bare herdens øverste parti utgjøres av stampemasse ifølge påstand 1, idet dolomittklumpene her dekkes av den pulverformede del av massen i en tykkelse på minst 150 mm, og at den i det underliggende og sentrale parti av herden anvendte stampemasse omfatter en pulverformet del som består av 50 prosent brent dolomitt og 50 prosent aluminiumoksyd og magnesiumoksyd.
