Description
Linningsbånd. Waist band.
The invention relates to a waistband with friction-creating material running along the length of the band.
Waistbands of this type have so far been used in such a way that, in order to achieve sufficient stiffness, they are produced by the friction-creating material being woven into or sprayed onto a single band with a starch-like character. However, such a band looks rough and therefore cannot be used on clothing items, where emphasis is placed on appearance. In order to remedy this disadvantage, it is known to place the friction-creating material in a simulating band, which is sewn together with a separately produced band of stiffened canvas and with this covering strips of simulating material.
The production of such a waistband becomes difficult and time-consuming, so that the application is thereby greatly increased in cost, just as it easily happens that the seams come undone; and the used strips come apart and fray along the edges.
The aim of the present invention is to provide a waistband which is free from these disadvantages, and which nevertheless appears with a decorative appearance, which makes it suitable for attachment to all, even finer clothing items. This is achieved according to the invention by the fact that the band is a double weave, the front side of which is similar and forms the friction-creating material, while the back is of a stiff canvas-like type and that the friction-creating material is interwoven and bound in both layers of the double weave. By using such a band, it is achieved that the band only consists of a single continuous part, which presents a simulating, decorative and smooth front, from which the friction-creating material, which mainly consists of interwoven rubber bands, appears, while the band on the back has a stiff canvas-like character and therefore in itself provides the necessary stiffening.
By, according to the invention, producing the waistband in such a way that the friction-creating material is interwoven and bound in both layers of the double weave, one achieves, compared to known waistbands of the type in question, where the friction-creating material is only bound in or sprayed on the fabric-like part of the combined band, that the friction-creating material is retained with significantly greater force and one therefore does not so easily run the risk that the rubber bands that form the friction-creating material are pulled forward in bends that are easily worn or broken.
In order to facilitate the attachment of the waistband to the piece of clothing on which it is to be attached, it is expedient according to the invention to produce the band in such a way that the canvas-like back side is narrower than the feather-like front side, in particular so that along the upper edge of the band you get a narrow edge strip consisting only of the feather-like front side and which can therefore be easily bent over along a natural bending line to produce a fixed sewing edge.
If you want an even greater stiffness of the waistband than that which the burlap-like backside can provide, according to the invention pockets can be woven in under the similar front side in the transverse direction of the belt so that stiffening material in the form of stiff strips can be inserted into these pockets. If the tape is also manufactured in the above-mentioned manner, so that the rigid canvas-like back side is narrower than the front-like front side, these pockets will be closed by the aforementioned bending of the thin edge strip, so that stiffening elements stuck in this way are prevented from falling out again.
According to the invention, text or other characters can finally be woven into the comparative cover in a manner known per se.
Fig. 1 viser båndet, sett fra forsiden. Fig. 2 samme, sett fra enden, og fig. 3 båndet, sett fra baksiden. The drawing shows an embodiment of a waistband according to the invention. Fig. 1 shows the belt, seen from the front. Fig. 2 same, seen from the end, and fig. 3 the band, seen from the back.
The waistband consists of a double material with a feather-like front side B, which is interwoven with a stiff canvas-like back side E, and in which is woven a rubber band C that acts as a friction-creating material which is bound in both layers and extends freely on the similar front side B. In the embodiment shown, the back side E is narrower than the front side B, so that along the edge of the waistband there is an edge strip A, consisting only of the front side, which can be easily bent along the resulting natural bending line by sewing the waistband onto the not shown clothing item. In the embodiment shown, text D is woven into the f6r-like front side B, just as pockets F running across the waistband are woven between layers B and E for extra stiffening material, e.g. strips of molding material.
