Werkwijze ter bereiding van N-monogesubstitueerde carbamaten.
In het Amerikaanse octrooischrift 2.677.698 wordt een werkwijze beschreven ter bereiding van .. N-monogesub-stitueerde carbaminezuuresters door een primair amine te laten reageren met ureum tot een 1,3-digesubstitueerde ureum, dat men 5 afscheidt van in reactie getreden amine, ureum en ontstane ammoniak en daarna in een tweede trap laat reageren met een monohydroxy-alcohol tot het N-monogesubstitueerde carbaminezuurester produkt.
Het Amerikaanse octrooischrift 2.409.712 heeft betrekking op de pyrolyse van N-alkyl carbaminezure alkylesters en 10 openbaart een werkwijze ter bereiding van dergelijke carbamine-zuuresters door ureum, een amine zoals laurylamine of 3 (iso-butojcymethoxy) ethylamine en alcoholen zoals ethoocy-ethcocyethanol met elkaar te laten reageren tot de N-alkyl. carbaminezure alkylesters.
15 De carbamaten volgens de uitvindjng kunnen wor den gebruikt in een aantal technische toepassingen, bijvoorbeeld als landbouwchenicalie of als chanisch tussenprodukt, dat kan worden omgezet in het overeenkomstige isocyanaat en alcohol door thermische ontleding of andere methodes beschreven in de bekende 20 stand van de techniek.
Volgens de uitvinding voorziet men in een sterk verbeterde werkwijze ter bereiding van N-monogesubstitueerde carbaminezuuresters, door een aromatisch primair amine, zoals aniline te laten reageren met uretm en een eerwaardige alifatische 25 alcohol, zoals ethanol, bij een tanperatuur van 100-250°C in r aanwezigheid van een stack basische tertiai'aminekatalysator en eventueel in een inert oplosmiddel.

Het is daarom. een primair doel van de uitvin-ding te voorzien in een verbeterde werkwijze voor de katalytische bereiding van N-gesubstitueerde carbamaten in hoge opbrengst en hoge onzetting van de reagentia* 5 Het is een ander doel van de uitvinding te voorzien in een verbeterd reactiesysteoa voor de omzetting van een aromatisch primair amine/ ureum en een alcohol tot N-mono-gesubstitueerde carbaminezuuresters/ zoals ethylfenylcaffcaraaat.
Deze en andere doeleinden en voordelen van de 10 uitvinding zullen duidelijk worden uit de beschrijving van de uitvinding, die thans volgt en uit de conclusies.
Volgens de uitvinding bereidt met een N-mono-gesubstitueerde carbaminezuurester door ureum en een eerwaardige alifatische alcohol met 1-10 koolstofatomen te laten reageren 15 met een primair aromatisch amine van de algemene formule R(Mï0) , waarin R een al of niet gesubstitueerde aryl of aralkyl- L· Π groep kan zijn met één of meer benzeenringen, bijvoorkeur niet meer dan zes, die aan elkaar kunnen zijn gebonden door enkelvoudige valentiébindingen, direct of via bruggroepen, wat 20 bijvoorbeeld zuurstof of zwavel kan zijn of een methyleengroep en n een getal is van 1-6, bij een temperatuur van 100-250°C in aanwezigheid van een sterk basische tertiair-amine als katalysator.
. Anderzijds kan men een inert oplosmiddel gébruiken, hoewel het reactieoplosmiddel eenvoudigweg het alcoholreagens kan zijn, 25 dat men gebruikt in een stoechicmetxische overmaat.
De reactie tussen het ureum, alcohol en het aromatische primaire amine kan worden uitgevoerd in elke geschikte reactor, zoals een autoclaaf, die in het algemeen voorzien is van organen voor het roeren, het regelen van de temperatuur en 30 druk en voor het verwijderen van bijprodukt en ammoniak, en mogelijk alcoholdamp. Hoewel de volgorde van de toevoeging van de reagentia, oplosmiddelen en katalysatorccmponenten kan variëren, is een algemene procedure voor het uitvoeren van de reactie het brengen van het ureum, primaire aromatische amine, alcohol, inert 35 8102158 3 * * - *·_..· .·»*.

De reactie van . discontinu, half continu of 5 continu worden uitgevoerd. De reactieprodhkten worden gewonnen en behandeld op elke conventionele wijze, zoals destillatie of fractionering cm scheiding van het N-monogesubstitueerde carta-maat van niet in reactie getreden uitgangsmateriaal, katalysator, cploaniddel en bijprodukten te bewerkstelligen.
10 De als reagentia bij de werkwijze volgens de uitvinding gebruikte aromatische primaire amines hébben de algemene formule R(NH2)n, waarin R een al of niet gesubstitueerde aryl of aralkylgroep is met één of meer benzeenringen, bijvoorkeur niet meer dan zes, die aan elkaar kunnen zijn versmolten door 15 enkelvoudige valentiêindingen direct of via bruggroepen, wat bijvoorbeeld zuurstof of zwavel of een methyleengroep kan zijn, en N-l-6 is. Representatieve amines, zoals hierboven beschreven, bij omvatten' j voorbeeld aniline, toluidines, naftylamines, benzyl-amines, xylidines, xyleen diamines, naftaleen dismines, tolueen 20 diamines, xyleen diamines, anisidines, fenetidines, 3,3'-dimethyl 4,4'-difenyldiamine, fenyleendiamines, 2,4’- en 4,4'-methyleen-dianiline, sulfonyldianilines, dimethylbenzylamine, naftaleen-methylamines, dimethyl en diethylbenzidines, methyl en ethylthio-anilines, biferylamines en diamines, fenoxyanilines, thiodianilines 25 en dergelijke. Het polyamine gemaakt door condenseren van aniline met formaldehyde en bijvoorbeeld gébruikt bij de bereiding van polymer©' isocyanaten kan ook worden gebruikt. In het algemeen verdienen aniline en de tolueendiamines de voorkeur.
De alcoholen, die worden gebruikt in tenminste 30 stoechianetrische hoeveelheid op basis van het aromatische primaire amine gébruikt in de reactie, zijn de eerwaardige ali-fatische alcoholen met 1-10 koolstofatanen. : Soals hierboven aangegeven kunnen de alcoholen ook werken als het reactieoplos-middel en bij een dergelijke toepassing worden zij in het alganeen 35 8102158 ** r 4 gébruikt in een molaire overmaat qp basis van het aromatische primaire amine gebruikt on de reactie te bewerkstelligen ter verkrijging van de N-monogesubstitueerde carbaminezuuresters. Representatieve alcoholen die kunnen worden gébruikt bijrde-5 werkwijze volgens de uitvinding zijn onder andere bijvoorbeeld methanol, ethanol, n-propanol, n- en iso-butyl alcoholen, amyl-alcohol, hexanol, heptanol, octanol, nonalol, decanol, 2-ethyl-hexanol, 2-methylpentanol, 2-ethyl-l-butanol, 3,5-dlmethyl-l-hexanol en dergelijke. De lagere alifatische alcoholen met 10 1-4 koolstofatanen verdienen de voorkeur.
Men neent algeneen aan dat de werkwijze volgens de uitvinding kan worden voorsteld door het reactiesdhena A op het formuleblad, waarbij R de eerder beschreven betekenis heeft en R' de alifatische groep met 1-10 koolstofatcmen voorstelt van 15 de gebruikte eerwaardige alifatische alcohol. Men kannen grote verscheidenheid van N-monogesubstitueerde carbanaten bereiden volgens de werkwijze volgens de uitvinding.
Gevonden werd, dat sterk gewijzigde opbrengsten en toegenanen reactiesnelheden kunnen worden bereikt, wanneer men 20 de bovengenoemde reactie uitvoert in aanwezigheid van sterk basische ir tertiaire aminékatalysatoren. De tertiaaminekatalysator kan een alifatisch, cycloalifatisch, aralifatisch of aromatisch amine zijn ·" met' 1-18'"koolstofatcmendie onderbroken kan zijn door zuurstof, zwavel, stikstof, sulfoxyde of carbonylsubstituenten. In het al-25 gemeen moet het als katalysator gebruikte tertiaiimine gemakkelijk zijn af te scheiden van het reactieprodukt en de bijprodukten. Representatieve amines geschikt voor gebruik bij de werkwijze volgens de uitvinding zijn bijvoorbeeld onder andere de trialkyl-amines zoals de trimethyl, triethyl, tripropyl, tributyl, trihexyl, 30 trioctyl, tridecyl, tridodecyl, etc. amines, trifenylamine, n-dodecyldimethylamine, n-tetradecyldimethylamine, n-hexyldecyl-dimethylamine, n-octyldecyldimethylamine, N,N,N' ,Ν’-tetramethyl-ethyleendiamine, 1,4-diazabicyclo / 2.2.2J octaan, 4(N,N-dimethyl-amino)pyridine, pyridine 1,5-diazabicyclo / 4.3.0? non-5-een, 1,8-35 diazabicyclo [_ 5.4.0?-undec-7-een, 1,1,3,3-tetramethyIbutylamine, 8102158 τ * 5 mei±yldiethylamine, butyldimethylamine, benzyldimethylainine en diergelijke. De hoeveelheid tertiai^ndnekatalysator, die men wil gébruiken bij de werkwijze, zal in het algemeen variëren van 0,1-200 mol%, bijvoorkeur 1-100 mol% op basis van het bij de 5 reactie gebruikte aromatisch primair amine maar men kan desgewenst grotere of kleinere hoeveelheden gébruiken.
Hoewel .men de werkwijze volgens de uitvinding bijvoorkeur uitvoert onder toepassing van een eerwaardige alifa-tische alcohol als het reactieoplosmiddel, evenals als reagens, 10 kan men ook andere oplosmiddelen of mengsels van oplosmiddelen, die stabiel zijn, en nagenoeg chemisch inert ten opzichte van de componenten van het reactiestysteem, gébruiken als een co-oplos-middel in het reactiesysteem, indien gewenst. Geschikte inerte oplosmiddelen, die men kan gebruiken, in het algemeen in hoeveelheden 15 van 0-50 gew.% op basis Van het reactiemengsel, zijn onder andere bijvoorbeeld benzeen, toluenen, xylenen, dichloorbenzeen, tetra-hydrofuran, 1,2-dimethCKyethaan, difenylether, nitróbenzeen, diei±yleenglycol-dimethylether, triethyleenglycol dimethylether, dimethylsulfozyde en dergelijke.

In het algemeen kan de molverhouding van amine tot ureum variëren tussen ongeveer 10:1 tot 0,1:1 bijvoorkeur'tussen 5:1 tot 0,25:1.. Het is in het algeneen geschikter en verdient daarom de voorkeur cm de reagensalcohol te gébruiken 25 als reactieoplosmiddel en dus in overmaat boven de stoechicmetrische hoeveelheid vereist voor de reactie. Hoeveelheden van maximaal tot 15 mol overmaat op basis van het gebruikte amine kunnen geschikt worden gebruikt. Grotere hoeveelheden alcohol kunnen worden gebruikt, maar worden in het algemeen niet gebruikt vanwege de toegencmen 30 moeite voor het terugwinnen.
De reactie volgens de uitvinding zal verlopen bij ' temperaturen van 100-250°C. Het verdient in het algemeen de voorkeur de werkwijze uit te voeren bij tenperaturen van 125-225°C cm een geschikte reactiesnelheid te verkrijgen. De reac-35 8102158 ·* ψ 6 tietemperatuur zal afhangen van de bepaalde N-raonogesubstitueerde carbaminezuurester die men maakt en moet liggen beneden de temperatuur, waarbij aanzienlijke ontleding van de productester kan optreden.
5 De werkwijze volgens de uitvinding wordt in het algemeen uitgevoerd bij atmosferische druk, hoewel hogere .... drukken van maximaal tot 50 atmosfeer gebruikt kunnen worden en in het bijzonder bij de hogere reactietemperaturen of wanneer de reactietemperatuur boven het kookpunt van de alcohol en/of 10 aminereagens ligt. Desgewenst kan men drukken beneden de atmosferische gébruiken.
Het bij de reactie ontstane ammoniak moet worden verwijderd in de loop van de reactie, daar anders af genomen opbrengsten aan carbamaat worden verkregen. Wanneer de reactie 15 wordt uitgevoerd bij éën atmosfeer, laat men het ammoniak eenvoudig uit het reactievat ontsnappen. Bij reacties waar verhoogde drukken worden toegepast, moeten voorzieningen worden getroffen on amnoniak te verwijderen. Een eenvoudige geschikte methode is de ammoniak uit de reactor te verdrijven met een droog inert gas, 20 zoals stikstof en/of met de verkregen alcoholdamp, mits de gebruikte alcohol vluchtig is bij de reactietemperatuur. Wanneer men de alcoholdairp gébruikt cm of als hulpmiddel cm de ammoniak uit de reactor te verdrijven, kan men extra of aavullings-alcohol toevoegen aan de reactor in een snelheid die het dampver-25 . lies compenseert.
De reactieduur hangt in het algemeen af van het geproduceerde N-monogesubstitueerde carbamaat, de reactietempe-raturen en de gébruikte katalysator en zal variëren afhankelijk van of de werkwijze continu of discontinu is, maar zal in het al-30 gemeen tussen 1 tot verscheidene uren bedragen.
De uitvinding zal nu op niet beperkende wijze , worden geïllustreerd met de volgende voorbeelden.
In de voorbeelden voert men de reactie uit, tenzij anders vernield, in een roestvrijstalen autoclaaf van 300 ml, 35 8102158 " - - · - --. . .--i 7

die geroerd wordt. Men brengt het amine, ureum en alcohol, samen met de tertiaè aminekatalysator en co-oplosmiddel, indien aanwezig, in de reactor, die men door spoelt met stikstof en verhit tot de gewenst reactietemperatuur gedurende een specifieke tijd.
5 Gedurende de reactie stript men verdampte alcohol en produktammo-niak af uit de reactor met of zonder behulp van een inert gas.
Man panpt aanvallingsalcdhol in de reactor met een snelheid, die dicht de alcohol verwijdering benadert. Aan het eind van de reactie koelt men de autoclaaf tot kamertsnperatuur en analiseert de in-10 houd door vloeistofchranatografie op omzetting van amine en selectiviteiten tenopzichte van N-monogesubstitueerde carbamaten en bijprodukten. De gestripte alcohol, verzameld in een droog ijs afvanginrichting, wordt geanalyseerd qp aminegehalte. De amine-anzettingen worden berekend op basis van molen amine verbruikt 15 bij de reactie. De product selectiviteiten zijn gebaseerd qp het aantal gebruikte molen aminen voor de bereiding van N-mono-gesubstitueerd carbamaat en bijprodukten.
Voorbeeld I (ter vergelijking).
Men brengt 23,3 g aniline, 15,0 g ureum en 220 ml 20 droge ethanol (200 proef) in de autoclaaf, die verscheidene malen wordt doorgespoeld met stikstof en verhit tot 200°C gedurende 3 uur. Gedurende de reactie periode stript men ethanol bijprodukt omtiddellijk af uit de reactor met stikstof met. gemiddeld 2,4' ml ethanol per minuut. De ethanoldamp, die ammoniak en een kleine 25 hoeveelheid aniline bevat, condenseert men in een droog-ijs koel-trap. Men pompt aanvullingsethanol in de autoclaaf met een snelheid die sterk de gestripte hoeveelheid benadert. Na de reactie koelt men de autoclaaf en analyseert de inhoud daarvan samen met het ethanolcondensaat. Uit vloeistof chranatografische analyse 30 blijkt een anilinecmzetting van 51%. De selectiviteit tenopzichte van ethylfenylcarbamaat is 70 mol%, tenopzichte van diferylureum 6,2 mol% en tenopzichte van fenylureum 1,0 mol%.

Voorbeeld II
Men herhaalt voorbeeld I, raar nu gebruikt men 0,47 g 1,8-diazabicyclo / 5.4,07undec-7-een als katalysator.
Uit analyse blijkt, een anilineanzetting van 71,4%. De selectivi-5 teit tenqpzichte van ethylfenylcarbamaat is 83,5 mol% tenopzichte van difenylureum 13,7 mol%.
Voorbeeld III (ter vergelijking).
In een glazen driehalskolf. voorzien van een 10 roerder , thermcmcrneter en terugvloeicondensor doet men 10 ml triethyleenglycol, dimethylether, 2,3 g aniline, 1,5 g ureum en 1,5 ethanol (200 proef). Men kookt de oplossing aan een terugvloeikoeler met behulp van een verwarmingsmantel, bij een pottanperatuur van 130°C, die· men handhaaft gedurende 7 uur. Na 15 de reactie koelt men de oplossing en verwijdert de inhoud daarvan en analyseert door vloeistofchramatografie. Bij analyse blijkt een anilineanzetting van 80,4%. De selectiviteit tenopzichte van ethylfenylcarbamaat is 48 raol% en tenqpzichte van difenylureum 28,9 mol%.

Voorbeeld IV
Men herhaalt voorbeeld III maar nu gébruikt men 0,5 g van 1,8 diazabicyclo / 5.4.o7undec-7-een als katalysator en voert de reactie uit gedurende 7 uur bij 130°C. Uit vloeistof 25 chranatografische analyse blijkt een anilineanzetting van 82% met selectiviteiten tenqpzichte van ethylfenylcarbamaat en difenylureum van 79 respectievelijk 18 mol%.
