Abstract

The two-way valve has the flow passage formed by a hinging pipe, this typically having a hollow spherical or hemispherical portion with a pipe end over which another length of pipe can be slid. It can be so designed that the sealing seat or ring can be overhauled while in use, and the inside of the housing can be cleaned at the same time. Minimum effort is required to open and shut it, and when fully open the resistance is the same as with a ball cock, although when partly open resistance does not rise appreciably. The valve is particularly for handling coarse material such as sand, slurry etc.
