Abstract
A collector unit for an installation utilising the heat of the sun consists of a shallow housing with, on its bottom surface a layer of insulating material. On this a collector plate consisting of a series of circulation channels for the heat-absorbing medium is placed, and in front of the collector plate there is a glass cover sealing the housing. The open front of the housing has on three sides a "U"- section profile, one of which can be sprung outwards to admit the glass which is held and sealed by strips of rubber and cement. The cheap easily assembled structure gives a high yield and has easily replaced details. It is esp. applicable to the heating of domestic water and water in swimming baths.
