Abstract

The peristaltic type suction pump is partic. for use as a positive-displacement exhauster, having a rotor with two or more pressure members working in a housing against the flexible wall of a passage, which they press against the housing to form a seal, thus enclosing a medium between two pressure points. The flexible wall consists of a membrane (12, 13) of non-stretching material, whose sides are clamped clear of the inside of the housing along a line concentric with the latter (18). At the membrane end this line runs towards the inside wall, the ends being clamped in countersunk positions (19, 20) in the latter. The membrane is wider than the distance between the edges when clamped in position, so that it can be pressed against the housing inner wall (18) by the pressure shoes (5, 6, 7) on the rotor (4). Each chamber formed by membrane and wall is connected at one end to a suction and at the other to a discharge union.
