Abstract

Two parallel gearwheels are respectively fixed to internal and external coaxial drive shafts carrying the propellers, each gearwheel being driven from the driven member of a different coupled on the input side to a propulsion unit. The gear train coupling each driven member (16, 17) of the differential with the respective gearwheel (9, 4) of each propeller shaft (10, 5) has pairs of pinions permanently in mesh with these gearwheels. These pinions are mounted on the ends of shafts (19, 27), on whose other ends there are other gears (20, 28) engaging permanently with further pinions (21, 29). These further pinions are coupled to the driven members of the differential. Thus the power from the propulsion unit (15) is taken along four different paths, two per propeller shaft.
