Abstract

Se provee un gen bacteriano de a1, 2-fucosiltransferasa y la secuencia de aminoacidos deducida. El gen es util para preparar un polipeptido de a1,2-fucosiltransferasa, y un fragmento activo del mismo, que puede usarse en la produccion de oligosacaridos tales como Lewis X, Lewis Y, Lewis B, y H tipo1, que son estructuralmente similares a ciertos antigenos de carbohidrato asociados con tumores encontrados en mamiferos. Estos glico-conjugados producidos tambien tienen utilidad en investigacion y diagnostico, en el desarrollo de ensayes para detectar tumores en mamiferos.
