Abstract
Una composicion que comprende un cuerpo altamente poroso reticulado derivado de un polímero de hidrogel soluble en agua, el cuerpo poroso está caracterizado porque tiene una estructura reticular tridimensional de celda abierta, una densidad de menos de aproximadamente 1.0 gramo por centímetro cubico, un área superficial igual a o mayor que de aproximadamente 300 metros cuadrados por gramo, una resistencia a la compresion igual a o menor que un rendimiento de aproximadamente 10 por ciento a 21.09 kilogramos por centímetro cuadrado y un diámetro de poro promedio de menos de aproximadamente 500 unidades angstrom, en donde el polímero de hidrogel se selecciona del grupo que consiste de alginatos, gomas, almidon, dextrinas, agar, gelatinas, caseína, colágeno, alcohol de polivinilo, polietilenimina, polímeros de acrilato, copolímeros de almidon/acrilato y mezclas y copolímeros de los mismos; y un extractante de metal. Un proceso para recuperar iones de metal de una solucion de ion de metal acuosa que incluye los pasos de impregnar un extractante de metal dentro del cuerpo poroso que se describe en lo que antecede y poner en contacto la solucion de ion acuosa con el cuerpo poroso impregnado a fin de remover los iones de metal del mismo y separar los iones del cuerpo poroso impregnado.
