Abstract

Un aparato y método para detectar y corregir varias condiciones de falla en un medidor de flujo de masa de efecto Coriolis en operacion. La presente invencion recibe la informacion desde un medidor de flujo de masa Coriolis en operacion y compara la informacion con firmas de umbral que representan varias condiciones de falla conocidas. Cuando se detecta una condicion de falla, las señales de salida se aplican para informar a un operador y para alterar la operacion del sistema. Un método específico de la invencion detecta la presencia de una fractura en los tubos de flujo y detiene el flujo de material para evitar la liberacion del material. Otros métodos de la invencion detectan la fraccion vacía inaceptable de material que fluye a través de los tubos de flujo, calculan una velocidad de flujo de masa corregida y controlan la velocidad de flujo de masa a través del medidor de flujo para compensar los efectos de la fraccion vacía.
