Abstract

También, la separacion entre las boquillas puede ser pequeña, ya que el campo aplicado a la boquilla no necesita ser separado de los campos aplicados a las boquillas adyacentes. El campo eléctrico se determina para que sea insuficiente para provocar que las gotas de tinta sean extraídas de la cabeza de impresion, cuando la tinta en las boquillas está en una posicion en reposo. El método de seleccion de la gota provoca que el menisco de la tinta de las gotas seleccionadas se proyecten desde la superficie frontal de la cabeza de impresion. La carga se acumula en el menisco de la gota que sobresale, debido a que el radio de la gota es pequeño y debido a que el menisco de la gota es el punto más cercano al electrodo opuesto. Esta carga concentra la fuerza producida por el campo potencial eléctrico sobre la gota seleccionada. Esta fuerza, en combinacion con la presion de la tinta, supera la tension superficial de la tinta y provoca que la gota seleccionada se separe del cuerpo de tinta. La gota seleccionada entonces se acelera hacia la placa, chocando con el medio de registro. Por este medio, una gota puede ser impresa sobre un medio de impresion, aun cuando el método de seleccion de gota no imparta suficiente energía cinética a la gota seleccionada, para hacer que la gota seleccionada supere las fuerzas de tension superficial y se separe del cuerpo de tinta.
