Abstract

La presente invencion se refiere a una tableta para la liberacion sostenida de metoprolol o su sal, caracterizada en que comprende: metroprolol o una sal farmacéuticamente aceptable del mismo, en una cantidad necesaria para producir un efecto terapéutico en un paciente humano; desde aproximadamente 8% hasta aproximadamente 35% de goma heteropolisacárida; desde aproximadamente 0.5% hasta aproximadamente 20% de un agente de entrelazamiento cationico seleccionado del grupo que consiste de sulfatos, cloruros, boratos, bromuros, citratos, acetatos o lactatos de metal álcali y metal alcalinotérreo y mezclas de los mismos, los cuales son capaces de entrelazarse con la goma heteropolisacárida para incrementar la resistencia de gel cuando dicha formulacion es expuesta a un fluido ambiental; un diluente farmacéuticamente inerte seleccionado del grupo que consiste de un monosacárido, un disacárido, un alcohol polihídrico y sus mezclas; la proporcion de metoprolol a goma heteropolisacárida es desde aproximadamente 1:1 hasta aproximadamente 1:5, cuya forma de dosificacion proporciona una liberacion sostenida de metoprolol durante al menos aproximadamente 24 horas cuando se expone a un fluido ambiental.
