Abstract
La presente invención se refiere a un conmutador de modo de transferenciaasíncrona (ATM) en el que se accesa a una matriz de conmutador central, endonde se verifica el control a través de las funciones lógicas y dememoria temporal de los puertos de conmutador conectados a éste. Elconmutador central se simplifica grandemente moviendo las funcioneslógicas y de memoria temporal hacia los puertos del conmutador. La matrizdel conmutador central contiene una pluralidad de líneas, columnas ypuntos cruzados de este, para proporcionar trayectorias para la ruta delas celdas de información y desde los puntos de entrada hasta los puntosde salida sobre la matriz. Las memorias intermedias de un solo almacén enla matriz del conmutador central facilitan el almacenamiento temporal y elmanejo de las celdas de información individuales cuando ellas pasan através de la matriz. La simplicidad de la matriz del conmutador centralfacilita la elaboración de un solo circuito integrado.
