Abstract
La presente invención proporciona una secuencia de nucleótido que codifica sintetasa II de carbamoilfosfato de Plasmodium Falciparum. La sintetasa II de carbamoilfosfato cataliza el primer paso comprometido y limitante del índice en la nueva trayectoria biosintética de pirimidina. El P. Falciparum, se apoya exclusivamente en la síntesis de pirimidina reciente, debido a su incapacidad para salvar las pirimidinas. Sin embargo, los glóbulos rojos sanguíneos humanos maduros no tienen un requerimiento reconocido de un nucleótido de pirimidina. De conformidad con lo anterior, esta enzima representa un principal lugar quimioterapéutico. La presente invención se refiere al uso de la secuencia que codifica sintetasa II de carbamoilfosfato en la producción recombinante de sintetasa II de carbamoilfosfato, y a moléculas contra-sentido, ribozimas, y otros agentes de inactivación de genes designados a partir de esta secuencia.
