Abstract

Un dispositivo para controlar el impulso hacia adelante de la superficie frontal de un cojín de bolsa de aire de un vehículo automotriz durante el despliegue de éste . Dentro del cojín de bolsa de aire se instala un difusor cerca del suministro de gas y que se encuentra perpendicular al flujo de gas del inflador. El difusor da como resultado la reducción del impulso hacia adelante de la parte de enfrente del cojín de bolsa de aire, permitiendo de esta manera que la parte inferior del cojín de bolsa de aire se despliegue hacia el ocupante del vehículo de manera que el contacto inicial de la bolsa de aire se haga con el torso inferior del ocupante. De esta manera el cojín se mueve a una posición inferior frente al torso del ocupante más rápidamente que un cojín de bolsa de aire que no tenga difusor. El difusor de esta invención también tiene filtros secundarios de partículas de materia en la corriente de gas.
