Abstract
Un método y aparato para diseñar cojinetes hidrodinámicos que tengan segmentos de cojinete móviles y un método para sostener un eje rotativo con dichos cojinetes. La posición de los segmentos de cojinete bajo carga se calcula utilizando el análisis de elementos finitos para determinar los coeficientes de influencia, los que son utilizados en conjunción con un modelo en dos dimensiones de la película de fluido para proveer el comportamiento en el estado estacionario del cojinete.
