Abstract

Se describe un método para preparar un ácido carboxílico aromático, que comprende utilizar en la fase líquida un compuesto de alimentación aromático, que contiene por lo menos un grupo alquilo o acilo con un gas que contiene oxígeno molecular, en un solvente que comprende ácido carboxílico alifático de bajo peso molecular, y en presencia de un catalizador de oxidación de metal pesado, por lo que forma una mezcla producto de la reacción de oxidación, que comprende un ácido carboxílico aromático; calentar subsiguientemente la mezcla del producto de reacción de oxidación a una temperatura de por lo menos aproximadamente 260°C para formar una segunda mezcla de producto; y recuperar de la segunda mezcla de producto del ácido carboxílico aromático. El método en esta invención se proporciona para un producto más puro de ácido carboxílico aromático de tamaño de partícula más grande.
