Abstract

La presente invención se refiere a la administración de la proteína de suero de leche dulce (SWP) para promover el desarrollo neuronal entérico en los infantes, especialmente prematuros, de bajo, muy bajo y extremadamente muy bajo peso al nacer, así como en los niños jóvenes hasta la edad de seis años. La administración de la SWP de conformidad con la invención previene y trata los trastornos asociados con un sistema nervioso entérico inmaduro o dañado. Los trastornos son, notablemente, la motilidad gastrointestinal disfuncional manifestada como tránsito intestinal lento, malestar intestinal, heces duras, estreñimiento y/o reflujo gastrointestinal, disfunción de la barrera intestinal, intolerancia alimenticia o enterocolitis necrotizante.
